Guilari vs Corbin seat for a CB750K
« on: March 13, 2012, 05:25:08 PM »
I have a new project bike I am considering what to do with it. I really like the looks of the Guilari seat and the Corbin seat. Anyone have the chance to try both of them? I have never seen or sat on either so a ride report from those who have would be great.

I live my Guilari. Makes it feel like you sit in the bike rather than on it. You sit a couple of inches lower than a stocker which noticeably changes the way the bike feels / rides... or at least that's the perception.
Comfort is fine for me but my arse is used to up to 6hrs a day for over 100,000 miles on one of these:

I've never had a Cobin so can't directly A/B but I will say the Guilaris look   8) 8) cooler  8) 8)

Thanks for the info. Your bike looks great with that seat. Anyone else have any input?

You can't buy a real Guiliari any more but the repro's that one of the members here sells on EBay look good. My seat is a genuine Guiliari, but after 30 years the foam has started to deteriorate, and I might need to get it replaced.

I do agree with Grumpy though, I do like the sitting position and I wouldn't swap it for an OEM seat. Like Grumpy, I haven't had any experience with Corbin seats, but I've heard that they're more into "form over function" than some other seat manufacturers. Cheers, Terry. ;D

I was feeling sorry for myself because I couldn't afford new bike boots, until I met a man with no legs.

So I said, "Hey mate, you haven't got any bike boots you don't need, do you?"

Thanks Terry. Goldie is one of the bikes on this forum with that seat that I have been admiring.

Agreed! It also means if you have clubmans or similar type bars you will have a different feel than if on a stock seat.

Would still like to try the Corbin though especially for long distance touring. My seat is good for 350+ mile days but again it all depends on your comfort level.

Good luck
Andy

Thanks Andy. I am drawing lots of inspiration from your bike. My next build is going to be a daily rider and yours is exactly what I have in mind.

I had a Corbin on a SV650 Suzuki and it was perfect for me.   When I got a SV1000 I brought one for it.  Not so happy with it on the 1000.  I switch between it and the stock seat and I don't like either one.  I have the Guilari reproduction from Classic City Cycle for my 73 CB750 and I like it.  Fits perfectly!  My Corbin results won't really help  for your Honda, but I am still wondering how why the two SV seats feel so different.

I always loved those Guiliari seats. I don't see any for the 550.  :'(
'Then' and 'than' are completely different words and have completely different meanings. Same with 'of' and 'have'. Set and sit. There, their and they're. Draw and drawer. Could care less/couldn't care less. Bought/brought FFS.

Can someone measure the width of the seat where the thighs hit while flat footing astride the bike?
The Corbin on my Cb750F really digs in there, and it is messing with my hip joint.  I'm wondering if the Guilari is narrower.
I measure 12.5 inches across the flat bit on the Corbin.  I'm not sure if the K seat is different width than the F from Corbin.

the original G on the 750K3 is 9-10in wide depending on exactly where one measures.

you can check it out if we coincide on the GZ run.
