77/78 K model swing arm question.
« on: March 17, 2012, 09:53:32 AM »
Going to remove the swing arm and replace the bushings and dust seals. The service manual states to remove exhaust.

Anyone remove the swing arm without removing the exhaust? It looks like it can be done if the swing arm is kept high to clear the rear exhaust brackets.

Thanks..

I had to pull off 1 side of my exhaust. I can't remember which side but you are pulling out the bolt so it will be the side the bolt comes out of.

Decided just to remove all of it.

FYI, you do not have to remove the exhaust. Comes out easily.

I had to with mine. Stock headers, slip-ons but same positioning.

I just removed the swingarm on my 77 K to do the same thing.  Good luck, it was kind of terrible.  Collar frozen to bushings, nasty grease, lots of hammering.
