Cleaning up my controls
« on: March 20, 2012, 04:16:45 PM »
I just finished a project to modernize my CB750 controls.
I put on a separate throttle.
I used a kill and start switch combo unit and a separate light switch
so the headlight is not on while I start the bike.
Randakk's grips.

The bottom photo is the switch I did not like. I threw it in the garbage can.
the brass contacts were very thin and cheap. My opinion.
It looks good though. I will give it that much.

I got the parts from Parts-N-More except for the light switch.

Where'd the light switch come from?  Looks nice and clean!

Does that throttle set up hook right up to your cables?  I am looking at getting the same one, wondering how they are.

Great idea. What did you do for the other side?

The left side is stock 1978 switch but I am going to change that out too.

The light switch is made by Trail Tech.
ITt is the good model.
The ones you see on Ebay that are all black with the kill switch labeled "KILL"
Are real JUNK. I know because I took one of those all black ones apart and the brass parts were real cheap and thin. I threw it in the trash can. The people at Trail Tech said they have not made those for over 2 years.
The one in the photo with the red switch is made much better.

Puts the brake lever kind of far away, doesn't it?

No the brake handle ball goes just about as far as the end of the throttle.
The photo is distorting the true location.

I am using a single cable .
They make one for duel cable also. Same design.
