750A #4 Cylinder Low Temp
« on: March 24, 2012, 06:02:19 AM »
So I recently pulled and sync'ed the carbs as well as replaced the plug caps with new NGKs. Drove the bike about 40 miles to work yesterday running fantastic. On the return trip I noticed some bogging down at approximately the 3/4 full throttle. This problem increased to the point of any quick throttle hits results in the engine quitting. When I returned home I took a temp reading on the pipes just below the engine. #1-3 indicated 350+- a couple degrees but #4 was showing 160 degrees. This problem seems to creep up from time to time. The last time it was an issue of bowl #4 not filling because of low fuel quantity in the tank and the use of the side stand. This time though it is a nearly full tank and use of the center stand.

Nice to be riding around in Maine I bet. I'm from Rockland.
Have you checked the float bowl for gas and the float valve? Do you run a filter? Sounds like fuel delivery to me.

Sounds like you know where the problem lies now you just have to go in and see whats up in that #4 carb. Pull the plug since its an easy outside maybe to get a clue and see if you can determine if that float bowl is getting enouph gas.Do the A's have to easy to drop clip bowl like the rest ? If the actual float gets hung up on a gasket or something it will lean out or if it sticks up can go too rich but you would probably get an overflow then.

I am about to head outside with tool box in hand to attempt a remedy. When I opened up the screw next to the overflow tube yesterday it did release fuel. Could this be indiciative of something else? Hopefully I am able to diagnose it this morning. And yes mycb750 it has been great riding up here. This week was a tease being in the high 60s low 70s all week. The drive from Portland to Alfred yesterday was amazing
