Let's play a game...
« on: March 25, 2012, 10:15:46 PM »
How many "racing" items can you spot on this motorcycle?  There are a few obvious drilled nuts for lock wiring, a strange 4-1 that looks like it was cobbled together.  I can't see much else, although if it is as fast as claimed, then it has a 466/492 kit, cam and possibly upgraded rods.

Well, they took the tach off to save weight!  "Performance engine covers" and flat black paint has got to be worth a few HP as well.  Combined with what might be the worst seat I've ever seen on a honda, I'd say we've got a real gen-u-wine cafe racer here.  :P

So he took off the tach and cable, but didn't block the cable hole in the valve cover (more weight savings?).  I do like the brake master cylinder upgrade, that may actually be useful.  Also, I think the oil filler cap is safety-wired from the wrong direction.

$3625 "buy it now"?  Sign me up... hell, I'll take two!  ::)

That "strange 4-1" header looks rather like this one...

I'm starting to think there is something to this bike.   It is rough around the edges, but I bet that motor has some nice parts in it. Now, do I risk dropping coin on it

"This bike is very fast, the previous owner said he had it up to about 130mph"

He is running  Emgo style POS pods with no internal radius, just straight. I call bull s--t on everything this seller has to say about the bike.

I'd be cautious too, as to me these two statements don't appear consistent:

"It was bought at a auction and this is how it was. It looks by the tag that is was last registered in Washington and has a plate/sticker from there"

"This bike is very fast, the previous owner said he had it up to about 130mph, he said"

It has a finned aluminum timing cover.
It has red spark plug wires.

It has red spark plug wires.

That will easily add 5-8 bhp.

With a few changes, and some time that could be a very sweet little bike.  Especially if the price stays below 22 or 23 hundred.  I too would hope it has some sweet internal bits, but don't go overboard bidding hoping for them.

The starter button and horn button are there but not wired yet? also some other loose wires?

It is definitely rough around the edges. If I was closer I would check it out to see there is anything to it. That engine looks like it was taken care of on the outside and it has a set of fully adjustable clipons. Someone put some time into that bike, but later owners apparently didn't.
