When Mike and I where talking last week I  thought about switching to one of Mikes big bore
blocks and 1000 cc turbo pistons sense my motor is not built yet
all Mike could say was your going to break a lot of very expensive parts

just damn

but that would be interesting if you could build a 1000 turbo and keep an eye on the boost
nothing more than 5-7 Lbs

hummmmmmmmm

I think you need to speak to Mike again, like you said Jimmy you can always start low with the boost.

Thanks fella's. No secrets....I'll tell anybody what I did. Christ...it's old stuff. I'll be honest.....I was disappointed with the CR after pulling .045 off the head and .020 off the deck.  Like I said....the flat top pistons are nice but if you start with a 20cc chamber etc you are better off. I wanted about 10.66....oh well. I want about 110 and 70lbs of torque though i do not have the CR to get the torque....I guess ::) We will see. It should run real well and give good midrange. It will waste any modern 750 in a roll on on the highway....it will give a modern 1000 fits too.

Fantastic work.  It must feel good to finally be putting a hot motor together for yourself with all those beautiful parts.

P.S.  Thank you Mike -- I received your package!

Steve, the guy that built these blocks did work on my RC swingarm to fit the auto chassis of my drag bike. While he was doing the work, the machine that made the blocks was making spares for It's self, how cool is that. 8) 8) 8) 8) 8) 8)

Mike, looks great. Are you using good solid reliable breaker points, or one of those fancy Dan electronic jobs??????

I'd tell you guys that the studs I have in the block are exhaust studs for a 1979 CBX.The short threaded side goes into the block....I use some red Loctite on them. Use a smooth flange nut and washers. It does help improve the clamping across the center of the block.

I look forward to hear a sound clip or even better video when ready.
CB750 has so nice sound! This engine must get a very nice tone :) It looks very good.

It's very seldom I hear an old CB750 SOHC or Kawasaki Z900/1000 from the 70's with a 4-1, baffle in it without wool.  Yoshi, Russ Collins, Kerker, Devil.
But when I hear it WOW!  The newer motorcycles are definitely not the same.

You have me thinking.....

1) What would the maximum reliable HP at the rear wheel be if we built one of these for Endurance racing?
2) Do you have any idea of the weight comparison with a std 750 or 900?
3) Any idea on the power curve?
4) Good idea or leave it for sprints and parading?

We have a couple of Darvill Spondon's that we could chuck one of these large capacity engines in and go racing with very quickly...

Thoughts Peeps...????

All the best,
Alex

I'd say a 100-110 RWHP! 8) Bill

110 at the rear..... and would this stand up to 4 to 6hrs of abuse?
And...
*takes a deep breath*
Any idea of the maintenance (other than the standard) that we may have to consider?
What cam to run?
What pistons?
What Carbs?

Anyone else fancy throwing in their thoughts...??

Rob (Voxonda)??
Big Jay?
Sam?
Lordmoonpie?

We could teach those DOHC boys a thing or two if we would get 120 reliable at the rear wheel!

Seriously thinking about it Bill....
I am developing a Kwacka for Endurance Racing next season (Z1R) running in a modified frame, was considering modifying one of our Spondon frames to fit this if it goes well, however i already have a works Honda CR Endurance frame and a Spondon copy of this (both original) that we could put one of these engines in and go racing very quickly, or.... fit one of these to a later Spondon frame???

However we would need to be confident that we could compete (i.e. 120HP at the wheel with a usable curve)...

Really interested in putting something together as no one is using SOHC's as they dont believe that they are competitive, we could prove them wrong  :P
Best Regards,

Alex
