No worries...I'll find one eventually.  Appreciate the effort, though.
In the meantime....popped these on. All balls kit.
The steering bearing thread was a real help.  With parts frosty, it was a 30 min job

Yes, the bearing is fully packed.  Just less messy on the outside until install.  I went with the thinner washer and the larger seal.  Fits nicely.

Nothing like fresh shiny paint, subscribed.
Was the ambient temp above 50 degrees when you sprayed?

Frame is looking good and I have a couple of questions, because this is where I'm at with my build. Here I go, what did you do to strip the frame and what made you decide to paint instead of powdercoating ( seems like everyone wants to PC these days).

I've been reading up on it and there seems to be pros & cons going either way. Any inputs/help would be appreciated. Also what made you go with the duplicolor, I read that there is a marine paint that several members used which is supposed to be quite good. Any recommendations for the primer?

Thanks

PS. I hear you about the kids draining the wallet at Xmas. LOL

It was close to 50f outside, but I had a propane heater going the whole time, and my space maintained 65f.
Price, and the fact I like to do things myself was the reason I went with paint...
As far as prep, I pressure washed several times, using ZEP commercial decreaser and a brush to get 30 years of road grime off.  Two rounds of aircraft stripper got 90% of the paint off, and acetone in a spray bottle got the remainder, and that brownish red primer coat.  The acetone just melted it away.
I used medium grit Emory paper to ruff the frame, rinsed it down once again with the pressure washer, and the a final wipedown with acetone.  Two days in the garage to dry.
Two good coats of duplicolor self etching primer. Two drying days, and then three coats of duplicolor gloss black today.
10 hours and about $80

Thanks Flybox, great job and I also like to do things myself and will paint mine as well. The only thing is, the painting will have to wait because this morning here in Montreal it is -27 Celsius, which is about -17 F, so I don't think a small propane heater will do the trick.

Turned out really good Rob.  Glad you were able to get the temp up with the heater so the paint could flash properly.  I painted my CL360 frame and know what kind of work goes into this to be done properly... Thats why I powdercoat now,  ;) :D

On the CL I used the Por- 15 paint system and had great success.  There Marine clean degreaser is the best I have used.

Oil line braided exterior was in good condition, but faded and ugly.  Here is my $4 experiment.
before....

...and after, with a little clean up of the fittings.

My left control always had a sticking signal switch.  Got this all cleaned out.
Work on a towel so those $#@*n ball bearings dont shoot off somewhere  :P

Packages arrived from Cyclex and CB750Supply.  Now I can button up the bottom end. Primary roller looks nice.

1/13
Inner fender got the attention this evening.
Decreasing plus a onceover with 2000wet and then two coats of Back to Black

yes...this is dry

1/16/14

Rear fender underside was really rusted, so it got the prep n etch treatment.
Might go with a plastidip or hammered-type of coating on this side.

8hour soak on each end..

just a few small spots to work out...

in the meantime, my baggie.of small shifter parts got stacked the way they should.  Shifts smoothly through all gears.

1/23/14
Down with the sickness yesterday, but I managed to drag my @$$ out to the garage and get some fresh air, and take care of some of the small stuff on the list....amazing how a little garage time makes you feel better  ::)
Battery box grommets/bumpers installed and put back on the bike.
R hand control disassembled, cleaned/primed/painted.
L hand control clutch switch re-soldered/double shrinked, and put back in the control.
Starter motor cleaned and rebuilt.
Painted center stand reinstalled

This K8 I've been riding has had a pretty good oil leak(it had a K1 engine of unknown mileage) and about 2 years ago, I started searching for an engine to rebuild while I got all that I could out of the K1 engine.
About a year ago, this disassembled F3 engine popped up on CL for $100, so I picked it up.

Since I brought it home, I've slowly been working on it. Completely stripped and painted Duplicolor (DE1634) low gloss black.
The trans was in great shape, but most everything else was replaced, honed and re-ringed, guides, oem seals, hd studs...blah,blah,blah.

K8 frame striped and painted...along with all other bits.
Fast forward to today...engine all buttoned up and grabbed the wife to help me set the frame on the engine..

Engine all mounted, covers on, battery box and harness, swingarm and shocks, fenders, oil tank, exhaust studs, HM module, coils, ignition switch, gauge bracket.....it's Miller time!

Thanks Tews.  Nothing crazy inside the engine so really no need for all the deets.  Just a solid refreshed stocker.
My only minor hurdle I forsee is my K8 harness used 7 pins in an 8-pin block connector to the old stator, where as my F3 stator has 5 bullet connectors(2 male,3 female), and I hate the wiring diagram  ;D

Facepalm for a reversed valve cover gasket had me pull the engine.
Set me back a weekend, but I'm moving along.
Need to finish list:
Bleed front brakes
Prime accel pump circuit again and check
Battery in and check controls function
(The battery tray tube is not a snorkel, it the separator to airbox tube.  Just need to cut to length)
Prime oil circuit
Fire in the hole....
