I know envy is not a trait I'm supposed to harbor, but as a guy with absolutely no space in the garage, and living on a postage stamp of a lot, I'm WAY envious of your ability to build out like that. Congrats on being able to do what so many of us wish we could.

I'm surprised one of us hasn't asked the obvious question yet. . . does your wife have any sisters?

As for speakers, there are some quality wireless options out now that are compact. You could stuff them in each corner of the garage to deliver some nice tunes while you play!

Might be too late since you have the foundation poured but have you thought about a floor drain? Helps when you want to clean out the shop.

Currently backfilling and adding the gravel base. Concrete in a day or 2 depending on the weather. Today we have some pretty high winds. Good to get the backfill in to reduce the mud. Plan to start the rough in on Thursday.

Have the vapor barrier, 2 inch foam and rebar down. It was so windy we had to use stones and bricks to hold it down. She is ready for concrete today.

Concrete floor is done and cured. The drive will be in a week or two. Start the rough in April 19th.

I will check his thread out. Here are a couple pics of the first and most complicated wall with headers for the door, window and AC slot. In summer we have days where the inside of my garage was about 95 so I just had to put in the AC. What a wimp...

Today we start on the long wall which has 2 windows.

We made some good progress today. Got all the walls done and sheeted. The trusses came this afternoon so we will place those and sheet the roof tomorrow. That is my brother Terry on the left and me on the right at the end of a long day today.

Looking good! Weird, but I can't wait to see those trusses. My day job is as a truss designer/engineer. I was going to ask what direction you were going with for the roof design (sticks or pre-fabbed trusses). Is the garage going to be a one or two hour fire condition? Great work so far on this project.

Sunday - we got the truss gable end sheeted and had my sons and a bunch of friends help us get it in place. Once that heavy gable end was in place we lifted the rest of the trusses in place, did the required bracing and added the hurricane clips. Built and installed the overhang, added the front facia board and sheeted the roof.
Monday the concrete guy comes to finish the driveway. Don't get fooled by the small front door...it will be a 10 wide by 8 foot high. Just waiting for the rough opening size from the garage door place. Dang my arms are sore among other body parts I have not used in years.

Monday update...got the front concrete drive done. Now a little hold up as we wait for the windows and doors to arrive. Can not do any siding until those items are installed. Sure have had great weather for building.

Insulation? I'd go R19, you have 2x6" studs right?

We are going 20 inches of blown in the ceiling and the 6 inch batting in the walls with 6ml vapor barrier on walls. We are able to match the siding and roof as both companies still make what I installed a few years ago. Got lucky there.

Don't forget a 220V outlet for future use - welder, compressor etc
