Hey everyone, Just posting my intro. Here's my story:
I grew up wrenching on dirtbikes and working on cars with my dad, but somehow never got into street bikes until about a year ago. I walked out of my apartment one day last summer and at the end of the block was this absolutely pristine 74 cb360. Mostly stock, but with a few bits and pieces that weren't and really set the thing off. It was gone the next day, and I haven't seen it since but I needed one. So about a month later (after deciding I needed a bigger bike) I was on a plane to Orlando to take a look at a 72 cb750 that I had just bought from a guy there who lived next to my uncle in Leesburg, FL, just south of Orlando. My dad and my little brother had ridden down on his goldwing the day before, nearly without stopping from here in VA. So we got the thing in the Garage, replaced the air filter, cleaned the carbs, new points and plugs, and I'll be damned if that 40 year old bike didn't take me all the way home without a single hiccup. It was just about the most fun I've ever had. Rode through what had to of been a tropical storm in northern florida, stopped in savannah and went swimming out on Tybee island, rode up the coast most of the way, back on 95 in NC, spent the night at south of the border, and rode straight into work the 3rd day, showed up 4 hours late, worked all day, rode home and passed out.
That's pretty much it. It's becoming an obsession, I just sold a car I inherited, and I'm gonna try and turn the money into two more bikes. I came across this forum, searching the internet for this and that, as I've been taking the 750 apart and putting back together, and there's a lot of awesome resources and seemingly a lot of awesome people who love these old bikes. I like that I see full on restorations, and chop jobs and wild and crazy stuff alike. Happy to be here, count on me hitting the veterans around here up for advice and help. Thanks.
