+1 -- Sorry I haven't been keeping a close watch on this thread; various family issues have kept my attention elsewhere.  Do you still plan to pass through southern MN & WI the weekend of 4 August?  I'm a little short of vacation time, but I can take Friday the 3rd off and meet up somewhere on the route.

I may be goin' to hell in a bucket, but at least I'm enjoyin' the ride. . .

Just throwing out an idea here, folks, so don't burn me at the stake. How about if all of you meet up at rockerbox? We can ship Lefty to Dennis, and you can catch up with him there.

That's fine with me.
I'm for sure going to RockerBox and can bring GZ with...  But, there aint much going on here in Omaha, regarding sohc/4 members.
If there were a few of us here that could show GZ the sights, and then all road trip to Rocker that would be cool.

Send him on, and I'll catch up with you all @ RockerBox.

**Seen a few different posts about meet-ups, sleeping accommodations, etc.... Is there one set person organizing a sohc/4 meet-up @ RockerBox?  Hand-off party, etc.?

****And anyone that lives between Omaha NE and Milwaukee that is going to RockerBox, that wants to ride together, LMK.  I'm leaving bright and early Friday morning.  General route is:  I-80 through Iowa to I-39 North through Rockford, to I-43 east to Milwaukee.  Can adjust this to meet up any other riders.
Come on!  We're burning daylight!

Zac, whats your plan for ride dates next week? I'd like ride for a while if it works out for me.

Sounds good.  I'll pm tlbranth my address.

wes: My travel plans are: Aug 3rd leave Omaha early a.m.  And I mean earlier the better.  You can come up to my place Thursday night and crash on the couch in you want.  Its a solid 8-9hrs (depending on how many and how quick our stops are)...straight through to Milwaukee.
Or, depending on your schedule, break off any time you need.
I'm more of a 'get there' kind of guy.  Not interested in dillydally on the way out.  Likely take boring interstates on the way out, but a relaxed leisurely route on the return.

I-80 E, to I-39 N through Rockford, to I-43 E into Milwaukee.

RockerBox Saturday.  Then might stay Sunday depending on what the sohc/4 crowd is like up there.  Im sure there will some meet-ups and impromptu rides, so I've got some flexibility on when I need to return, so as to join in on any extra activities that might be happening after RockerBox.  Need to be back in Omaha Tues. night Aug. 7th.  No set route for return trip home.  Packing some light camping gear, in case I come across a decent state park on return trip.

That's how it sits now.  Im open to changes.
Come on!  We're burning daylight!

After Rockerbox, one of the possible destinations for Lefty on Sunday is Gingerman Raceway, South Haven Michigan to cheer Team Cycle-X on to yet another AHRMA victory!

Grasscutter and others.....N3507 North Avenue, Cascade....that's me so plan your routes and let me know if your arriving on Thursday, Friday, or need a place for Saturday evening after Rockerbox.  I have an early Dentist appointment on Friday and then plan to ride on the local roads (new TT100 on rear) for lunch on the beach (bikinis anyone 8) 8) 8)) at Elkhart Lake.

Old School and others from Ill, Ind, MI .......Grasscutter will be arriving from Omaha on Saturday AM at Rockerbox.....he and others should look to make the handoff to someone to carry Lefty to Chicago and beyond....proposed meet up is NOON at the corner of Center and Pierce.  I will try to get this announced on the PA system.  Let me know if this works and who will be the next rider.

Sounds like a plan, Dennis!  I haven't heard any alternatives to Sean's plan to take Lefty across the pond to cheer on Cycle-X at Gingerman Raceway.  Let's do that!!

GZ is en-route to NE.

Haven't heard any plans for the meet-up in RockerBox on Saturday.
What's the plans?  Who's team leader for the MN / WI area?

Been pretty silent on the GZ teams.

Got a tracking # from tlbranth.
GZ is currently arrived in Omaha, and am expecting it to be @ my place when I get off work tomorrow.

As of now, I'm rolling solo across Iowa and into WI.
Anyone want to join up, scroll up a page or so, and you'll see my route and departure times.

Look forward to meeting some of the MN, WI sohc guys @ RockerBox!  Goodtimes!

Just flew back from Montreal today, catching up on the thread...

I see you're planning on heading east after work this Thursday.  While I still have hardly any time to contribute, I would be able to make some time work Friday morning to ride along a bit if that works.

I have a work meeting that afternoon, but the meeting is on the direct route between Cedar Rapids and Dubuque, which I can propose is a fine route through Iowa.  I could arrive at that meeting on the cb with no ill-effects related to work.

If you don't have a different route locked in yet, it would be cool to meet for some team riding with GZ.  Breakfast (or lunch) is on me!

PM works best for me to exchange cell numbers, addresses, etc...

All the best,

Shane

(modified to add...)  I didn't see the most recent timing plans--scrolled too far back and used that as reference.  Anyway, if you decide to ride anywhere near Cedar Rapids on Friday morning, I'll stay tuned...

wes:  No worries.  Have a good move.  We need to get the group together and make a run up to Okoboji again, before the end of the year.  Let's plan it.

shane72:  sounds good.  I mapped 2 different routes.  they only vary in total time by about 15 min.  Wouldn't have a lot of time for a meet / meal, unless we kept it semi-brief.  Where would I meet you?  Can you be ready and possibly meet on the road somewhere, rather than me driving into town to your house?

Estimating 4.5 hrs to Cedar Rapids.  (Leaving @ my planned 6am departure, puts me there around 10:30 or so).  Would prefer to go Hwy 218 west to hwy 151 North to Dubuque.  Stop for a quick bite (if time allows) in Dubuque, and then I'll head to Madison and beyond.  Does that work for you?  If it does, we can swap #'s, via PM.

WI riders:  anyone heading to RockerBox?
Still looking for a clean couch to sleep on if possible.  (saturday after the show)
Hope to meet up with oldscrambler and/or old school on Saturday @ RockerBox.  Think 1 of them has a place to crash for after the show on Saturday.

About 36 hrs to departure.....

OK.... Wisconsin Riders and others.....Grasscutter (Zac) from Omaha is carrying Lefty through Wisconsin on Friday. His ETA at the Mississippi and Hwy 151 is Noon or shortly after, and then into Madison.  I have his cell # so any others want to meet him give me a PM today.

Skamagedon.....ZanVooden......Tews19.......DB22......Srust58

Any and all are welcome at my place on Friday Night....(and Saturday night).....I'm an easy 2 hrs from Madison (151 to 33 at Beaver Dam then east to 45 N in West Bend to east on H near Kewaskum to Hwy 144 N that becomes Hwy 28 to Cascade.

If that does not work for anyone........Skamagedon has planned to stay with a friend in Milwaukee on Friday night so will be trying to save parking spaces at Rocker Box at Pierce and Center (north from Center). I plan to arrive at Rocker Box between 10 & 11 on Saturday.

Sheanbarney from Michigan is expected and maybe riders from Chicago.

About 36 hrs to departure.....

Thanks for the chat this morning, looking forward to meeting you tomorrow and riding a bit!

Here's a Google map thing--zoom in and out to find more detail:

http://maps.google.com/maps?saddr=Des+moines,+ia&daddr=Casey%27s,+33rd+ave,+cedar+rapids,+ia&hl=en&ll=41.940691,-91.670222&spn=0.012625,0.01929&sll=41.600545,-93.609106&sspn=0.406151,0.617294&geocode=FSHGegIdbqNr-innHmHBpJnuhzGy5JEmUSgAcQ%3BFYQFgAIdXi2J-iEp_G9P_5e3ByndtOKXgffkhzEp_G9P_5e3Bw&mra=ls&t=m&z=16

After you turn north in Iowa City to catch 380, it's about 18 miles or so until you cross 30/218.  Keep going (less than a mile) to the first exit after 30/218, which is 33rd Ave SW.  Go left at the bottom, Casey's will be the first business on your right after you go under the freeway.

I'll watch for your message from a fuel stop, and should be waiting for you at Casey's about 10:30, unless your messages say a different time based on the ride.

All the best,

Shane

oldscrambler:  Is it possible to come by your place Saturday a.m. before RockerBox?  Id love to be able to unload all my bike bags, gear, etc., before going to RockerBox.  Can't see how I'd be able to keep all that secure, while @ the show.  Then stay stay @ your place Saturday after the show?

I'm camping on Friday night.  From my spot to your place is 2hrs.  If I can pack up and get on the road my 7am, I'd be to your place around 9am, then its about an hour to RockerBox, right?  Seems like that might work, as you mentioned wanting to be @ the show around 10-11am.

Or does any other sohc member in Milwaukee (maybe that lives close to RockerBox) have some garage space I could store all my bags/ gear, during the show?

Regarding trip through IA:  I'm meeting shane72 for a short section between Cedar Rapids and Dubuque.  Looks like he'll be representing the whole state of IA!

Any Dubuque to Madison riders?

Grasscutter...............Yes, you are welcome here in the AM but we will have a van (one or two show bikes) parked on a side-street (Pierce) just north of Center Avenue.  If you go directly to Rocker Box from Madison.............go to downtown Milwaukee on I-94 and then north on I-43 a short distance to North Avenue.......East on North Ave about 12 blocks to a Left at Humbolt (before the river bridge) and north on 5 long blocks (one block past the baracades at Center) to Left on Hadley, 4 short blocks to Left on Pierce which will connect with Center.............Look for a brown '80s Chevy Van and call me whenever.

Good morning all.  Not off to a good start here.  Left Omaha early this morning, and only got about 20miles down the road.  Clutch decides to start slipping today!  No joke.

Got home, went through all adjustments...just to make sure.  Yup...clutch...shot.

So, I've got another CB650 project, I can pull the whole clutch basket on it, and swap them.
Or, I've got new clutch discs sitting on the shelf.  Either way....I'm pulling the clutch.

Other option is:  unload the CB650, and pull it all on my GL500i Silverwing.  Could be rolling in less than 30min, doing this.
Come on!  We're burning daylight!

Ok.  Gave the clutch swap my best effort.  If I had a new clutch cover gasket, we'dprobably be ready to go.
Got the old clutch pulled, (Glad I had the 4 prong clutch nut socket).  Dis-assembly went fairly smooth.
Actually though...I'd feel better if I had time to do all the clutch plate checks, etc.  Just putting in new discs, may or may not cure it.  You know what I mean?  Would hate to find out 500 miles down the road....

So, my 1982 GL500i Silverwing is loaded and ready to roll.

No internet access on my phone as I travel.  Will keep in touch with the 3 guys that I do have #s for.  oldschool, oldscrambler and shane72.  If anything else needs posted, maybe they can do it for me.

2.75hrs behind.... time to roll. :)
Come on!  We're burning daylight!

Sorry about the late question .. but could someone just fill me in on what's this about?  Just a small bit  of compressed details.  Im in plymouth Wisconsin and I want to meet  up  with some riders.  Is this an all weekend trip? I have my kids so I cant really just disappear for few days but would like to meet and ride for a while. Is that possible?

Scroll up for more detail. Drop oldscrambler a PM with your phone # or requesting his and give him a call. Sounds like a meetup at his place and riding tomorrow. grasscutter is on his way to meet up with Shane72 for riding today with GZ 2.0 in tow.
