I have a 1976 cb550F motor with what I believe to be 1973 cb500F carburetor model# 627B.  Will this carb reduce performance?  I don't have the bike up and running yet, I am just looking for opinions on whether this carb will be fine or if I need to look for the correct model.

The carburetors are the same. The stamped number denotes the combination of internal parts- jets, etc. You can use those carbs and re-jet them to suit your bike- air filter and exhaust choices necessitate changes to the jetting.

My buddy has close to the same set up. 72 500 frame 76 550 motor with same carbs listed runs fine
75-550 ffsc sold, 78-550 diamonte sold, 125s grasshopper sold, 76-550 puma sold, 78-550 tracker sold, 74-550 verde diablo Sold, 74-550 Noemani finished trying to sell. 72 500 hartail in the works
