Topic: 1975 CB750F Supersport Build

Alright so I'm in the process of rebuilding my Supersport. I'll follow up this post with a bunch of progress pics and descriptions but for now I wanted to get this thing on here to show progress. My momentum/motivation comes and goes so some good feedback would sure help to get this thing done. First pic is when I first brought it home from my grandpas house where it sat for 10 years outside untouched. It only has 11k miles on it. Although it didnt roll into my truck, I saw the potential and dragged it into the bed of my F150. A free motorcycle is something I can never pass up. Second pic  is where it stands as of today. Ive painted the frame and engine and just got the beast back into its home this past Friday. What a job that was. Currently I'm in the process of cleaning my carbs with my ultrasonic cleaner, which is an awesome little tool. The third pic is of three little washer things that showed up in the pan when I was dissasembling the carbs. Anyone know where these things go? I was taking apart the entire carb assembly when I saw them in the pan so they either have to go on the carbs somewhere or the part that connects and controls the carbs. Ill report back this week with a full build log to date.

Demo started, wheels off.

Engine ripped out, frame put on its side to remove. What a nightmare, broke an engine stud, broke a drill bit drilling it out, broke an easy out, took 7 carbide tipped drill bits and 2 hrs to get everything back out. Retapped and we are good to go. Carbs are clean and dry, insides look good too. Mind you I got the engine running before I started ripping this bike apart so if it doesnt start or run, its all on me.

And this is where everything begins...

Well after chopping some extra tabs off and cleaning up the frame, it was stripped with aircraft remover, washed with acetone, washed and dried with soap and water. Dried for a week before I got back to it. 2 coats etching primer, 1 coat primer, 3 coats base of Ford Gray, 4 coats clear coat and you get the below frame ready for reassembly. Overall it took about a month from start to finish, between painting, sanding, painting, sanding, etc.

Engine cleaned and cleaned for weeks. Brushes, acetone, degreaser, dremel, wire brushes, power washer, sos pads. Completely demoralizing. But its done. Primered and painted. DupliColor Gray Engine Primer and DupliColor Engine Enamel (Cast Coat Iron). Color from "the architects" build thread. A lot of my build is based on his build. Just awesome. A big thanks to him.

Engine back in frame! I scratched part of the frame getting that beast in there but surprisingly my spray can paint job held up well. A little touch up and some extra clear coat and we're back in business. This is where it sits as of today. Carbs and wheels are next up. Ive taken apart the carbs and cleaned them in the ultrasonic machine. Now its time to put them back together.

Alright so I glazed my tank and sanded it down. Luckily the tank is 37 years old and only had two small dings in it, which were easily fixed with the glaze. It will undergo another series of sandings and glazing before it gets painted. A lot of work I might add. Next time I'll just subcontract that part out.

Triple trees, swingarm, and rear springs all back from the powdercoater. Rear bushings in swingarm replaced with bronze bushings.

Overall picture with the oil tank installed. Tank is shot with a black indicator coat to see the last of my imperfections before a final glazing and then painting will begin.

I am going to get the rims and hubs powdercoated, but Spring is here and the itch to get this thing road worthy is pushing my patience. I painted the wheels myself for now. Back wheel mocked up to see asthetics. I like the all black rims a lot. Think I'm going to ditch the clubman bars for some clamp ons. Brakes are next as well as front forks.
