how much do i need to slot in either direction for say 5 degrees advanced?

nevermind........my son gave me idead to trace cam gear over a protractor and find the bolt holes.

As a rule of thunb, 5 degrees on all old Hondas is the dfference between the F and T marks for the ignition timing on the crank, on the cam it would be double.
