Motorcycle Lifts?

Hi ALL:

So, new 4-1 means no centerstand.

I would like to get a stand.  No room for the full-on stand -- need something compact.  I'm thinking one of the scissor-type lifts.

Is it safe to lift the bike via the oil pan, if the load is properly spread out?  I would have to build some kind of adapter as the new pipe also runs right under the right side of oil pan.  Any other suggestions?

Need to get new tires and have some new forks to install, so I need to work something out soon.

Why couldn't you keep the centerstand with a 4-1?  I put a MAC 4-1 on my cb650 and kept the centerstand by putting a wire clamp (http://www.marineparts.ie/products_pictures/71170t.jpg) on the drum brake brace.  Keeps the center stand from coming up too high and rubbing the chain.

Unfortunately every time I put the bike on a jack now I have to take off the exhaust.  It runs along a line on the right side very similar to yours.

The MAC was designed to work with the centerstand.  This HOOKER 4-1 Is supposed to be a "race pipe" for maximum clearance, and the pipe and muffler run right thru the area where the right side of the CS used to be.

Looking at it outside, I might be able to put the CS pin back in and use it as a jacking point.  Then maybe the foot peg mounts for the other jacking points?  Anyone?

Regarding scissor jacks -- anyone used one and have a preference?

i would'nt try and lift it on your oil pan :o, can you not get the pin back in to your center and just use it when you need to and remove it when you want to ride? :-\,   mick.

Looks like it might clear in the down position.  If that is the case problem solved.

I would like to have a more official lift, but I'm still living the apartment life so minimalist setup is better.
