'78 CB750 Cafe Bike Project
« on: May 05, 2012, 08:00:55 PM »
Here is the bike when I bought it, badly neglected, but only 3,300 miles on the ODO, and a nearly spotless motor (on the inside):

Took it completely apart (except the motor - if it ain't broke...):

Rebuilt EVERYTHING else, replaced all the 30 yr old crap that needs replacing, cables, hoses, rubber parts, etc., and grafted in the front and rear from a '81 Kaw KZ750 LTD..

and here we are today:

I have a ton more pics of various stages, trials and tribulations. It runs great, only thing now is to finalize the paint. I have settled on a Midnight Pearl Black, so all tin is now at the paint shop getting shot. Will post pics and video early next week when it is done.....

Not so badly neglected.  Yours looked pretty good really not nearly as nice as it does now but not half as bad as the 550 I just picked up.  Would like to see it when it's all buttoned up.

That "before" pic does not do justice to how bad it really was. These are the forks from it, and this was pretty much the typical condition of everything:
