Vintage MC Show at Gilmore Auto Museum
« on: June 11, 2006, 05:39:10 PM »
I received an eMail from VJMC about this gathering a week or so ago, I think someone posted something on it also. Originally I didn't think I'd be attending, but after having taken my wife to a nice dinner for our anniversary last night, she suggested we go to this  ;). Now how could I pass that up? It was at the Gilmore Auto Museum over in the Battle Creek/Kalamazoo area.

Good turn-out lots of bikes on exhibit, lots of bikes (attendees) in the parking area. Almost as interesting to prowl that as the exhibits. Anyway took lots of pics thought I'd post a couple that others might find interesting. There were several Fours (a Rickman Replica, CB350 and CB400). The other pic is of an HRD Vincent, if you can make it out, notice the odometer reading.

Had to scale down and compress these quite a bit, hope they show-up decently.
We'll all be someone else's PO some day.

Hey Bob, I, along with others , appreciate the pictures of the bikes. Wish I could have been there to see them first hand. In our time, there has been a lot of development done on motorcycles and, if my Grandfather was alive, he'd be impressed. When I was getting ready to be shipped to Japan, in Dec 67', I told him that I thought I'd check out the Yamahas and He told me to get a Honda. As you know, Hondas hadn't been in the states very long at that time. He already knew alot about them.

Better go, this could end up being a very long reply.  Thanks again, Bill

The 350 and the 400 were VJMC entries. There was a K3 down the field a bit. I overheard the owner telling someone he was trying to talk the Rickman owner into an even trade on exhausts. The K3 was running 4-2's I think. Good luck I thought. Wanted to ask the owner of the Vincent about the "one" mile on the odometer, but he, or she, was not around at the time.

Next week is The Antique Bike racing @ Grattan Speedway, and July 21-23 is the National meet In Wauseon, OH. Bob, thet would be a great little ride for you. It's directly south of Jackson, just over the border off Rt. 20.
Cheers, Chris

Oh, Yeah, I didn't get to do it, but The Local Triumph dealer had Demo rides around the grounds. I talked to a guy who rode in the morning, and went back in the afternoon, and the bike he wanted to test had been wrecked! Boy, that'd be embarrasing!
They had a trailer bound Dyno too...that was tempting!

I uploaded additional pics from the Gilmore Exhibit to some Album space rather than create a string of replies with attachments, makes it optional for folks.

    Great job Bob,

Totally Awesome!! Are those pictures going to be there for awhile? I'll probably be
checking and rechecking them out for awhile. Thanks again for posting those pictures. There
were some great looking bikes but, I think my favorite was the Red CB750 with gold trim and
silver frame. That was one detailed bike!. Better go for now, Later on.  Bill

Bill,

Not sure I even did the right thing in terms of where I posted them, I have a message into Glenn on it. If necessary, I can move them to my gallery space, I think I would still be within my limit. If I have to move them, I'll post something.

Bob, whatever you need to do. It would be nice to be able to keep them somewhere
on the site but, if you can't yo can't. If they have to go, I'd like to download a few of them.
Thanks Bob, those are mighty good pictures. Later on, Bill
