RTV Silicone to repair carb boot? What color?
« on: June 12, 2006, 09:53:03 am »
I pretty sure that my carburetor boots are leaking air but I don't want to spend $60 bucks for new ones.

Has anyone had any luck with repairing rubber carb boots with RTV Silicone like the following?

If so, what color did you use?

Thanks,
Scott

Scott, I had good luck with the Black Silicone on a Kawasaki I have. The boot is still fine 5 ten years hence. I do have a set of intake boots I just took off the bike and replaced with new OEMS. They are harder than new. But are not torn and you can have them cheap if you need them.

Thanks for the reply BobbyR but it looks like very few people have had any luck with silicone repairs.

I'm tired of messing with them, and ready to ride, so I ordered a new set of boots form servicehonda.com.

Wise choice Scott, the new boots are far better.
