Can you flip headlight mounting sleeves?
« on: May 15, 2012, 06:15:41 am »
I have always hated how high the headlight was in relation to the rest of the bike on stock 70's CBs.

Simple question... Can you take off the stock headlight mounting sleeves and turn them upside down without any other modifications? If you do have to make modifications, what exactly are they? Does anyone have any before/after pictures?

Yes it is possible depending on the design of the headlight brackets.

Aren't they tapered? smaller at the top and larger at the bottom?  If so, I think that'd look odd...Larry

Ah, ok... I didn't realize that they were tapered...

I guess that just means I'll pull the sleeves off and polish the upper forks and then put other mounting brackets on there.

Why not get you a set of those clamps that hook around the fork tubes and attach the headlight. You could then move the light down as much as possible to give you the clearance you are looking for!!

I already have the brackets that youre talking about so as soon as i strip the forks those are going on.

and those you can flip side...
i have mine so that they reach straight out, vs (i think the right way) the arms reach up to the final position of the headlight.

so you can get a different look with the same mounting position
