Hello from Arlington VA
« on: May 24, 2012, 07:09:07 AM »
I'm a relatively new rider -- I learned last summer on a Yamaha VStar 650 -- and I'm now the very proud owner of a 71 CB750 cafe racer.

She's fully restored, and needs very little at the moment.  But I know old bikes need lots of attention, and I'm hoping to learn as I go.  I'm starting with a simple oil change this weekend.  I've put 600 miles on her newly rebuilt engine since I got her, and it's time.

Next on the list is to replace her fork boots, which disintegrated on a long ride last weekend.  They are on the way, and I've Googled how to do it.  Looks simple enough; I just need the right tools and a bike lift.

Anyway, looking forward to being part of the group.

Welcome! I am right over in Leesburg.  Your bike is beautiful by the way, I really like it.

Thanks very much!  I can take none of the credit.  Shannon Sweeney in Venice CA did all of the work, and the guys at my shop tell me he did a beautiful job.  I saw it on eBay and it was a "have to have it" moment.  Had it shipped cross country and it made it just fine.
