What can I do with this CB100 motor?
« on: May 24, 2012, 11:47:40 AM »
A couple of months ago I ran into a guy who had a good CB100 motor. Wrecked bike, but motor is fine - shifts, compression, etc. Anyway I picked it up for a song and I've been keeping my eyes peeled for a CB100 frame to put it in, but so far no luck. Are there other Honda frames that I could put this motor in with little-to-no modification? I might have better luck finding a 175 or something but am not sure what'll swap. Any suggestions?
If it's worth doing, it's worth doing twice.

I would polish it and display it on the mantle til I found a frame :)

Any 1969 ~ 1976 or 1977 CB, CL, SL or XL 100 or 125 will be a direct swap.

The 175 / 250 / 350 frames will accept the motor, of course, having been designed for the physically larger motor but will require some mods.

That should be enough for getting on with.

But, the polish 'n display idea sounds good, too!

:)

I have the same problem with a Suzuki 250 motor. It was a close call for a wheel standing lawnmower, probably wouldn't get much grass cut but could have been a load of fun.
A few Honda 500's, a few Honda 550's, a few Honda 650's, '72 cb 450, a couple 500/550/650 hybrids, and 2001 750.

If it sounds like I know what I'm talking about, it's because I cut and pasted from someone else.

Woah, necroposting!

So what happened? Did you find your frame? Did you sell it? Did you build a minibike, gokart, lawnmower, rock tumbler, drink mixer combo?

That's funny! Actually it's just sitting here. I bought a Goldwing last fall and have been working on that. New belts, brakes, shocks, tires, water pump..... I've been keeping my eye out for a non-running 100cc Honda roller that I could just swap this over to, but so far, nada.

It'll probably also fit a CB125S, XL125, or even an XL175.
