Will a K7 seat fit a K8?
« on: June 14, 2006, 01:52:55 AM »
Hi all..
..as the topic suggests, I need to buy a new seat for my K8.. ..for some reason it suddenly decided to split, everywhere, all at once... but can only easily get hold of a K7 seat, are they the same?. I WAS going to buy a (dare I say it) King and Queen seat, but I received a somewhat slightly negative response  :-[ when I posted that suggestion on the forum a month or two ago  :D  :D

The reason I suggested the K&Q seat was that my missus loves to ride pillion but can never see the road over my head. hmmmm wonder if there's somekind of booster cusion I could attach to the back of the seat?

Cheers
J

The K7 seven seat will fit the K8 just fine but it is a flatter seat than the K8's so wifey will be just a tad bit less boosted than before.

Are you sure that the K8's arent so vastly improved in every way that nothing prior will fit on one?

Hey there is only ONE K8 supremacist!!!

The pan is identical on the 77-78. It was the only 2 years they made that pan I think. Of course the foam on the K8 is superiour!

well, precisely my thoughts.. ..better tank, mirrors, foot rests, handlebargrips.. ..all engineered to perfection I thought  ;)

I'll go ahead and purchase the new seat, however, I'm not sure my wife would be seen dead on inferior foam.. .. :-\ soooo not sure.. ..perhaps if I paint K8 along the side of the seat that might coax her back, what do you think.

I say to her "are you coming out for a ride on the Four love?"

and she says "don't you mean the K8 darling"

and then we laugh and laugh for hours

As you can probably imagine, the winter nights fly by!

well  Jmon99 , you know the saying  ' beauty is in the eye.....'   if you were ok with the king and queen and it would allow your wife to enjoy riding even more with you,  I would ignore what somebody on the internet has declared as the proper looking seat  I know who I would rather keep happy.

yeah I take your point upperlake.. ..however I don't think the K&Q seat gave much extra height for the pillion.

still don';t know what to do there.. ..IS there a booster cusion thingy? One of the suggestions from last time was that I could cut away the (superior) foam from the front of the seat, thereby giving the pillion a boost.
