Topic: Cb750 Cafe Racer Project... frame up build

So i purchased a frame and wheels 2 weeks ago. they are 1977 CB750F with hopes to build a cafe racer. in a matter of 2 weeks, i have purchased an engine($125), forks ($200), and tones of rebuild kits for the attached accessories.

So far here is what i have. From oldest to newest...

today i removed all the excess bracketry for powder coating in the morning. The wheels and frame/swingarm are going to be powder coated over the weekend and should be ready next week.

I shall submit my order for Benji Cafe Racer Dolphin tank and tail tomorrow.

Next week the engine rebuild begins. Tear down, send off specific parts to machine shop. Going to have the heads redone, the bores made new, and another shop is taking the bottom and replacing the primary and cam chains cause i do not want to split cases, no matter how mechanically inclined i am. BTW i work on cars for a living.

Dropped the Frame, wheels, and swingarm at powder coaters. gloss black. should be done next friday.

Ordered my Benjie's Cafe Racer Tank/Seat Combo with battery box.




im excited to be getting to work on all this stuff... just waiting for parts to get here now.

to tell ya the truth i didnt really think he would give it to me... but he explained he lost out. so.. thats cool...

The Carbs are amazingly clean. Ill take more pics tomorrow at work.

got the engine at the shop monday, and finally finished my adapters for use on the engine stand.


for $125 this engine and carb setup are clean!

Well it has been a great deal of time since i have updated this build. I have seen myself creating many smaller threads dealing with specific issues. I will just start updating this thread.


Lately ive been getting things ready for paint, and finding aircraft remover is not as effective as i remember it to be.

First time sand blasting since the aircraft remover refused to work. I am doing the outside no containment way of sand blasting. Ran out of daylight on 2 of the calipers.

Tomorrow i should be picking up the cylinders and head from the machine shop, and dropping off the case halves if they can do same day  cleaning.

I sat the motor pieces together today, the paint will cure for a week before i assemble the lower.
