78 f3 gas cap repair?
« on: June 16, 2012, 11:34:21 AM »
I think my gas cap is plugged and not allowing enough air to pass though.I tried blowing through the hole but its hard to tell if air is passing through or not.
I tried cleaning it with carb cleaner and compressed air and no change.
Would it be ok to just use a small drill bit and drill all the way through it?

anyone? I'm really thinking about using a 1/16 drill bit and boring from the hole in the top of the cap and drilling straight through it.

Thanks for the tips Bollingball. But my cap had none of the features shown in the examples you provided.
I just drilled it today and now the problem is solved no more bogs or hesitation.
The bike pulls hard now from 80mph without fault.
