This is more of a before and after; I'm very bad about taking progress pictures. Thanks for indulging me just the same!

Bought this for $300 plus a torch here locally. Came with a good title and even had the original receipt when bought new for $1800 in '77!

Thanks!
JD

Sorry, no other pictures...I always kick myself in hindsight.

I have been without a bike for a bit after selling my '67 Triumph, so was quite anxious to get back on the road.

I bought this bike a month ago and just buzzed right through it without taking pictures along the way.

I basically did quite a bit of cleaning, replaced slow jets and went through the carbs,  bent up and welded on a rear loop for the seat support. Made a seat pan to fit and upholstered the seat. I also cut apart some old 550 shocks and made some struts to keep it low....form over function, I know :)

Used a '75 tank and painted that and some NOS side covers to match and made a new headlight bracket for the old Harley dual ring light I found.

Lastly put on some firestone tires to fit the aesthetic. I've ridden these firestones on a few bikes and they work well for me, but keep in mind I live in Iowa so I'm not out hitting the twisties on them!

Pretty straightforward and nothing too terribly amazing like you see elsewhere on the project forum!

cheers
JD

Great deal on the bike.  The fact that it had a great looking reusable original exhaust makes it well worth it  It is going to be a little rough to ride without the fender and it looks like it will be quite bumpy when you run over a pebble in the back... but you said you knew what you were getting into, haha.

Nice bike, she cleaned up very well.

Cheers Brock, thanks.

With prices of the old sohc's having gone up over the last few years in my area, I was thrilled with the price.

These have been the last two bikes I've built, so I'm used to bumps caused by pebbles. ;)
