Didn't get plugs today or anything. Was busy. But will get them tomorrow while at work. My job is by a parts shop. hope to have running Atleast in the next couple days, then will work on front brake.

On an Illinois title the only number that appears should be the one on the frame.

I stand corrected.  The K2 I bought from NY had no title but I can use the transferable registration to get a TX title. (NY did not issue titles to bikes back then)

With my 550F, the original title was issued using the engine. When I got the title for the 1971 750 re-issued through the hassle process  I purposely requested title using the frame VIN. DMV obliged.

Tried to change oil filter . . . no luck




maybe after we get it running, the heat and movement of the oil will help loosen the bolt. Its almost stripped. Then we cut the center of it to put a flat head in there, and no luck.

tank is empty and put stuff in it to get rid of the light rust, and saw this!!!


I saw this while under the bike. I have no idea what it can be from.

Hino, what table is that?  I had a chance to use one just like that to service the rear end bearings on my VFR and it was a joy not to have to sit on the ground to work on it.

 Do you have an impact gun/wrench? I have an electric one in the garage and it makes short work of stuck nuts and bolts that I would have mangled using other methods.

Yah, that oil filter bolt is a constant issue here which is why I warned you about it a few posts up. There are ways to get that off you can find on the search function. Two that come to mind is to weld another bolt on the bad one. The other thing guys do is take a power hack and cut the bolt off, but you will need to get a new oil filter housing once you do that one.
With the way the petcock looks with all that gel in there I would soak it in carb cleaner and be sure you change those fuel lines. You can get a replacement petcock screen from Honda or just try to clean it out with carb cleaner.
The double throttle cable system is a nice feature and not sure why you want to remove it. The push / pull cable system is designed to allow the driver to pull the throttle back in case it gets stuck open which would not be good. No benefits to remove it.
That little  bit of oil on the bottom of the motor is the least of your problems. Don't worry about it. Good luck with the bike and let us know how it comes out.

It looks like your B cable is broken?

In a perfect world you should have it. To answer your question, it is not necessary. Just be sure your throttle snaps back to idle. Which it should do whether you have the B cable hooked up or not.

As to the oil filter bolt, this is one of those things that age creates. The bolt is not stuck because it is too tight. it is stuck because a chemical reaction has occurred between the bottom of the flange of the bolt and the filter housing. From exposure to the elements, condensation and road spray. had it been removed once a season, it would not be stuck. If you can grind or drill the flanged part of the bolt off without getting into the housing, you will spare the housing. Once the flange part is off, the housing will pull off and you'll have the length of the bolt to work with. But you'll probably be able to turn it out by hand.

Trevdawg- Don't let these issues get you down.  We've all been there (and will be there again).  Someone above said "take your time" and they're right.  The outcome will be worth it on many levels.  Remember, you have a lot of guys here cheering you on.  Good pics BTW!

I like the idea to weld another bolt to it. We will have to try that.
Johnie I don't want to remove anything. I just noticed the cable was snapped and was curious how important that part is. The throttle operates smoothly even with one cable. I'm going to try and find that part B throttle cable part #.
We put that evapo rust in the tank so I can't wait to see it today.

We cleaned out the pet cock screen pretty good. But the bowl/ housing had 2 pinholes in it. My friend is a welder so he said he has something at work to patch them. Didn't take a pic of it.

Order a new cable from motion pro. They can have you a new one by friday or call your local motorcycle shop... May have one on hand. Cost maybe 20 bucks tops.

AS others have said, these are minor bumps in the road. That bike is way to nice to worry bout minor details for now. Once you get her running and enjoy her then go forward with making her mint.

If you need a petcock I have an extra laying around in my basement. In MIlwaukee so I am near by. Let me know.

I even have a used OEM cable if you need it.

Its the B cable. Known as the push cable, but it doesn't push anything. (pet peeve of mine)

The B cable doesn't have an adjuster on it. Probably length is dif too.

There have been complaints of the Motion Pro cables, personally I would spend the extra few bucks and buy the Honda cable.
And would not be a bad idea to change both.

I have to agree with Steveo here...I have heard about problems with the Motion Pro cables too. You would be better off OEM or get the used one from Tews.

I agree  stev-o and johnie as well about motion pro. I am not sure of his motivation or funds for the bike.  Motion pro for my 750 at the moment are Ehh status. I may have to look into new oem ones too.
