Topic: CB750 Speedometer Drive - Double Disc

Do any of our erstwhile contributors have available precut stock Honda speeedometer drive "discs" to be used in the double disc conversion? Like the ones CFC/Yoshimura used to sell?

What year 750? There were 2 different drives.

Chappie with the username 'rangelov' on here did some a while back. Not sure if he is still in business, but might be worth a search. Failing that they don't look too difficult to have made, might be worth having a chat with a friendly machinist regards cost etc. and have a small batch produced.

I made my first one from the stock drive. Ground down the OD with a bench grinder. Left enough material strategically placed to bend over with a vice to make the drive tabs. Not pretty but functional. I'm looking for a pic.

Currently i had one made at a machine shop for $20. Instead of a bench grinder they used the mill. Then welded 2 strips for drive tabs. Very pretty.

Rangelovs was the best I've seen though.

Just read through your other thread on the tech forum; are you looking for a drive to fit a Com-star wheel?? Rangelov's adapters are for the early 750s with the two flats on the hub.

Scottly, yes, I have the two-flats hub on my K4 and I already have one Rangelov drive. It's a piece of real art. Hope he's out there listening - and has a few left. PS: With his drive, if you use standard Honda hubs (and polish them..) the Rangelov adds just that extra bit of brightness..

Spirit, here's what I ended up doing.  I am not sure if it would be a good fit you you or not, but it has a working speedo, AND used the lighter 550 rotors.

Nah, I just wanna wake Rangelov up!

I appreciate all the folks that want to do the "physics correct" thing and have the calipers behind the fork legs. But I like the "CB750" esthetic of having them where they originally were. I'm going to use Kimtabs anyway, so I've already lowered the rotating mass..and I'll have drilled, thinned discs as well.

Nah, for me I need another Rangelovdrive. R Man, where are you?

I've sent rangelov a PM, but got no reply. Guess I'm going to have to try and get a similar item made. I know a man who can make one, it's just a matter of time.
