Finally 6 years on turned into 9 years....
« on: July 04, 2012, 11:51:39 PM »
Naively I announced the end of my CR750 build in June 2009 - http://forums.sohc4.net/index.php?topic=53094.0

Then I started having issues with the ignition, I didn't like the fuel lines, the rear brake bracket, the oil cooler brackets, electrics harness, hose fittings....the list goes on. A while back I bought a Dyna 2000 from Mike Rieck who has been incredibly helpful and then began the fitting, the re-wiring etc. In March this year I found the Dyna was half dead even though brand new so back to Dyna it went for repair/replacement which they did very professionally.

In the interim I realised if I was going to get anywhere I had to star the bike on my own so I wasn't relying on the Missus to help with the two man petrol remote starter so set about building a MotoGP style battery powered starter I can run myself off a foot pedal. All of those things accomplished, fresh petrol in yesterday and it was the same old story....bup -bup-bup-bup and that was all. I tried again...and it fired into life! It sounds much cleaner and crisper with the Dyna ignition. There is no real idle as the old Keihin CRs just don't seem to let it but it's running. It revs like nothing else - lightened system inside and it spins up to 10,000 with almost no effort.

Oh yeah, it's an AVI file so you may need RealPlayer or something similar to view but.....

....finally! Six Nine years on, the video of the Hisiki-Sumiya CR750, turn the sound up, she's loud  ;D

That's the intention - I need to shake it down thorougly and run in all the new internals then hopefully it's off to the Isle of Man for  a parade lap of the 38 mile TT circuit! Now that's what I call good value - one lap, 38 miles :-)

Well done sir! Very satisfying to hear the bike run and I'm very happy to have been able to be part of it in a very small way. ;)

What do you mean about no real idle? The idle sounds like a proper racing motor should to me. 8)
Don't fix it if it ain't broke!

Thanks guys - well the idel isn't sooo bad I suppose. The carbs are a right load of fun. First tickler carbs I've used properly and they leak like a sieve!

Mike - when you add up the bits you've helped with over the last 9 years, you'd be surprised :-) A big thank you to you and indeed the many others who've helped with words of wisdom, wit, inspiration and in Sam's case, abuse  ;D  ;D  ;D

Nicely done.  Sounds a bit like another bike I've heard.  ;)
Take care,
David

Yeah me too TG - I need a good hour on track first to run her in a bit, oil change to get rid of the build crap and then dyno it is! Oh and I got to make a bracket or two to hold the pencil camera - I got dispensation from the IOM Clerk of the Course to film my lap onboard the bike ha ha ha! Man I am sooo pleased with that  8)
