1973 cb350f

Back in 2010 I got an old cb350f. I was so excited and I loved this disgusting little rat haven that hadn't run in 20 years. I did all the stuff everyone on here had said to do when a bike had been sitting for so long. With surprisingly little effort, I was able to get it running (poorly), it wasn't rideable but it ran. And then it didn't. I had some issues and I decided the best way to get all of the problems taken care of was to take it all apart, clean everything up and put it back together in a way that was more pleasing to me.

This is what it looked like when I brought it home. Note the bathroom rug and an actual belt used for the seat cover.

Everything was going great. I got the tank repainted, cleaned up the frame as well as I could and repainted it, painted a few other parts that needed it, cleaned up a lot of other parts etc... You know pretty simple stuff. Then, I started putting it back together. As soon as the real work of reassembling started, my wife decided we just had to move... to a house without a garage. So the bike went back into storage as a rolling frame and a box of parts.

And when it went into storage.

I then came down with a rather serious case of spinal meningitis that very nearly killed me, I bought a Honda Shadow that very nearly killed me (in short; had my face my ripped half off for trying to help someone I didn't know) and we moved again, thankfully that wasn't life threatening. Now, we live in a house with a garage and I've finally been able to get back to all the things I love to do. A couple of months ago I pulled the 350 out and started staring at it, trying to figure out what the hell I was doing. Two years and some odd months have passed and it seemed as though I had forgotten where all the parts came from and how everything was hooked up. Last week I decided to just jump right in and start putting stuff back together. All the major components are together and my parts box is almost empty (what's left over is mostly crap I didn't want on there anyway... mostly).

This is what it looks like now. I've actually done a few more things since this picture was taken.

I'm having a difficult time with some things and I'll probably have lots of questions. My account here on the forum doesn't seem to have the same privileges as it did in the past, for example the search function doesn't work, so please excuse me if I ask a stupid question I could have just searched for.

[edit: Here are the pics.]

I forgot to mention that I live in London, Ohio. I've noticed that there are a couple of other cb350f threads in the Columbus area and I'm only about twenty minutes away.

Dog,

What a great story. Glad to hear you're back on track (and alive!).

I've done the same thing to a busted up old CB400F which as you may know, is quite similar to the CB350F. If you get stuck, have a read through my project thread.

Likewise, if you have any questions, don't hesitate to ask.

Good luck mate,

Rick.

I like you color choice, it's similar to the color "Cast Iron" which is what I have chosen for my CB350F, which I too haven't worked on for about 4 years.
Now  1972 CB350FX (experimental v2.0)
        1981 CB650c Custom with '79 engine (wifes)
        1981 CB650 engine
        2004 HD XL883C Custom
        1977 Yamaha XS750D (in progress)
Then 1972 CL175
        1964 Yamaha YGS-1T
