How tall is the average CB750 rider?
« on: July 16, 2012, 09:45:35 AM »
I ask because I took my stock K6 to the Harley dealer down the street for my inspection. The inspection guy first called it a "cream puff"which made me angry and then could not swing his leg high enough to get on it which made me laugh.

I am 6'3" and fit comfortably feet flat on the ground with bent knees.

Having problems there, shorty McCreampuff? Should we get you some platform shoes and some training wheels?  ;D

Some people are complete idiots. Unfortunately a decent number of them ride Harleys. ::)

5'11" here and I can't flatfoot both even with my cafe seat that is lower than stock.

Not the experience I had.  I took my my bike to have the carbs synced by a guy that worked primarily on Harleys and he had great appreciation for my 750K7.  No exaggeration he also said that he was asked three separate times if the bike was for sale while it sat in the front and that was when my tank had not been repainted after a fuel spill disaster and didn't have the side covers on... it looked terrible.

The majority of the Harley guys know and appreciate what Honda accomplished with these bikes.  Of course there will always be the types that are blinded by their brand loyalty and as always flat out stupidity.

it seems to be about 6' and just above 5'.
I don't have a motorcycle, sold it ('85 Yamaha Venture Royale).  Haven't had a CB750 for over 40 years.

BrockSamson- one of the mechanics did come out and wanted to buy it but I didn't entertain an offer. Not for sale.

Seems to me though that around here most harley guys (which seems to be atleast 90% of the m/c in my area) have zero appreciation for a vintage japanese bike.

Funny, almost the opposite here, many of the Harley riders appreciate old SOHC4's in my experience. The local Harley shop has many vintage Japanese bikes on display and the owner is a fan of all bikes. Cliff.
Oops, forgot, probably not average but I'm 6'3" tall.

+1, I am 5'10" (with short legs) and I gotta tippy toe the thing around, sometimes I even have to jump off to back it up

I met forum member "Andy750" a few months back and I am pretty sure the dude is + 7 feet tall. Anyone that calls a CB750 a "creampuff" is a "douchebag". Read about the CycleX bike that smoked all those 1000cc....dang inspiring.
http://forums.sohc4.net/index.php?topic=108206.0
"OK....just got off the phone with Kenny. You guys are not going to believe this. Long story short...The main race is set with 3 waves of riders. CycleX bike is in the second wave. Rider stalls the bike on the line. Officals will not allow any assistance until all the staggered waves are clear. Kenny and his crew jump over the wall, attach a kickstart lever and fire the bike up (Hmmmm....good thing they left the shaft exposed). Bike fires up BUT they are down 1 minute 50 seconds. It was a 6 lap race. Kenny's rider goes ballistic and WINS THE RACE BY 3 SECONDS!!  Once again passes every twin cam etc etc. That's unbelievable guys. I really wish I was there to see it."

I find this interesting consider most japanese men average 5'6" and couldn't hardly throw a leg over a 750.

Btw, my intent was not to slight anyone's height, after all we don't get to choose how tall we are.  It just never crossed my mind that someone might not be able to get on the thing.  He was not happy when I laughed at him, but it would not have been funny except for his cream puff remark.  He made other snide comments but I held my tounge since he held the future of my registration in his hands.

A coworker has one of those Sportster Irons.  I feel ridiculous on it.  Knees way up in the air like I'm on a mini bike.

6' 6" here and I am on the cb650 which is a little lower than the 750's but it fits pretty nice I must say. And I must say I am so tired of seeing these dang lowrider bikes from harley you have to have a chopper any more just to stretch out a little if you are over 6'.

I was under the impression that "cream puff", when talking about a vehicle, means it's old but in great condition.  I wouldn't consider that a bad thing.

That was my inclination too. I didn't really see it as an insult, but more as a compliment.  :-\ :-\

5'-9 1/2" here with 29 1/2" inseam (short) ... I can still throw a leg over the old girl (motorcycle that is)  ::)

Funny thing about the Honda dealer down the road is that they are a combined Honda/Harley dealer.  The Honda side actually has lots of motorcycles while the Harley side is mostly apparel ... and not inexpensive!!

How is everyone here so tall?  I go 5'7" tops.  You know what that means, I need a step ladder to get on any SOHC4 (and my CT90)  :o

6' 4" after my lower spinal fusion. One plate of titanium and a handfull of screws and pins made up the almost inch I needed. The doctors called it necessary but I just wanted to get taller.... ;)

K8 lowered an inch and 1/2 also, no problem flat footin it.....Boats

5' 10" and can flat foot with the stock seat. Of course, my weight brings the bike down a few inches more than most, I'd guess. LOL
