I just got out of bed after 12 hours of zonking. I woke up at 6am with some back pain, so I took some more pills and just woke up again. Hmmnnn, I think I'll have eggs and bacon on toast for lunch........... ;D

Mick, when the 318i first came out (1980?) I was posted to a little Army Reserve unit in Lidcombe, in NSW. There was a road that ran along the border of the Lidcombe Cemetry up to the Ag college, from memory, it was dead staright and cop-free, so I used to "test" my K1 up and down that road.

One day, I followed 2 little BMW 318i's driven by mechanics from the local BMW dealership who were also "Testing" these little buggers, I sat up one's clacker at 115 MPH by my speedo, and I could see the driver smiling away in his rear view mirror. Great fun!

Another problem with 318i's is that the discs were only good for around 60,000 Km max, before they wore to undersize, and the OEM discs were over 1000 bucks for the four. The service manager at Melbourne BMW told me that, probably to cheer me up when he told me that my K100RT front discs were rooted......... But that still pissed me off. ;D
I was feeling sorry for myself because I couldn't afford new bike boots, until I met a man with no legs.

So I said, "Hey mate, you haven't got any bike boots you don't need, do you?"

I had to have a disc made for the rear of my Z250 Kawasaki......

No longer made and every used one I found was undersized.

I remember spending bulk hours on this BMW to get it right.
The brakes were dynamite in the end.
It was a good learning curve.

We had a 450 _Merc that had worn to  undersize rotors at 40 odd thousand clicks.
They were surprisingly well priced for genuine parts.
The deal was that they would airfreight the parts in free of charge if they weren't available ex stock.
CAT will.do the same in a "Machine Down" situation..
You pay big bucks for quality and they do the right thing at crunch time.
If I was you
I'd be worried about me.

G'Day Tim, there's a company called "Metal Gear" that sells discs on Ebay that are based in Brisbane, they reckon that they can supply just about any disc for just about any bike.

I was gonna buy a pair of front discs for my BMW R100RS from them, but it was an "exchange" deal, and I couldn't be bothered removing my discs then send them to Metal Gear, then wait for them to send me back the new ones. (they rivet new discs to the old carriers)

Luckily for me, there was a guy in the US selling a complete wheel and discs on eBay, so I won the auction and asked him to just send me the discs, which were almost perfect. Cheers, Terry. ;D

I just had lunch with a mate (after we gave the mini a service and brake flush) and he was saying that the X8 BMWs (he works for a BMW dealer) with 20" wheels (tyres are 325/50 or something stupid) are scrubbing tyres out in about 15,000km..........and it's a cool $6000 for 4 new tyres.....FFS. that'd piss you off eh.

I think that's why us "peasants" drive Minis and Toyotas Pete.
At 6 Gorillas for a new set of rubber, we're probably a step ahead in that department.

The 'ol mate used to own the Cavan Hotel.
We learned how to drink beer and fix up Nortons, Trumpys, AJs etc instead of doing our homework back in the day.
He's driving around in a Mazerati now and lives in Victoria Park.
Pisses me off.  ;D
It cost him 3 marriages to get there and he's still pissed off about that.  ;D

Well I thought that I'd get real clever yesterday.
It's the start of the Dry Season here in Darwin and it's time to do some serious mowing in the back paddock and knock down the Spear and Mission grass which thrives throughout the Wet Season.

I got the bulk of it done with the ride on mower, then I chained a length of  4" Gal Pipe behind the Toyota to flatten the rest down and then spray it with weed poison.

By that time, quite a few beers had disappeared and I collected the tap sitting on top of the water main line which was covered in Mission Grass.
The tap is on the bore line and just had to isolate it.

So this morning, it was out with the shovel to dig the mongrel up and fix the damage.
Not a happy camper and pissed off with myself, but a couple of early morning beers made it so much better.  ;D
If I was you
I'd be worried about me.

Early morning beers? You're a fcuking alcoholic Mick, I'm disgusted! I'm so disgusted, I'm gonna pull every bottle of booze out of the cupboard and tip it all out! (a couple of nips at a time...........) ;D

It was completely sweated out by the time I'd finished mate.
It was as hot as the hobs of hell down there this morning.
Once that sun came up, it only took a bit to start cooking'.

Actually, I hadn't had a beer for brekkie for years.
I was as hungry as 10 men when the job was done.
Some Bacon & eggs & some toast  on the barbie afterwards and I wasn't pissed off anymore.   ;D

Well, seeing that you're in Darwin (voluntarily too) and seeing that you were working while I was still in the land of nod Mick, I'll forgive you mate. Just don't make a habit of it, remember the golden rule, "Irish Coffee before lunch, then it's pub time". ;D

Did anybody see where I put the transmission cooler lines for the racecar? I was sure it all went on the table or the tool cart.
It seems both of the guys that have been rebuilding my transmission have been doing it wrong. The guy that built it new screwed it up and the rebuilder has been repeating everything the first guy did. Took a newbie and his how to book to figure it out. Jeez.

Well don't forget that Enron's $11Bn downfall all started with a very junior journalist questioning Enron's share price Don, something that seemingly everyone else with much more experience had overlooked. Which must have pissed them right off! ;D

There's a Category 2 Tropical Cyclone that's formed in the Coral Sea off the far north Queensland Coast - TC Zane.

They reckon that its gonna track North West over Cape York and shouldn't be much of a problem.
If it does reach the NT and pisses down with rain here, its gonna piss me off watching that grass grow again that's taken 2 weekends to mow down.   ;D

Any time my employer hires an engineer or draftsman they always put those potential employees on the production floor with us for a few weeks. For the past few days I've been working with a young kid who's being hired as a draftsman so I figured if he's a draftsman then surely he knows how to read a print right? Wrong. I gave him what I thought would be a breeze for him to do but ended up having to take everything apart and putting it the way it was supposed to because he had it backwards. The thought that a draftsman couldn't comprehend a print absolutely stunned me so to make sure he doesn't screw up again I have to dbl check everything he does to make sure he got it right.
