I didn't mention the apology word, and no I don't think we should apologise. What I meant was Abbott bumbles his way through interviews and addresses and I believe does not do very well in delivery of diplomatic matters, especially in this case....he's just not very convincing.....in my opinion.

Anyway, enough of that crap, what pisses me off now, is my own lack of self-confidence and imagination.

I bought some beaut new(ish) 17 inch wheels for my Yammy FJ1200 recently. The back wheel will go on with some minor engineering, but I need to change the wheel bearings in the front wheel as the axles are different sizes.

Last Friday week I dropped into All Tools and bought an ex-hire bearing puller kit for the bargain price of $100.00. Sadly, all of the pullers therein didn't come close to removing it.

No worries, I bought a better looking blind bearing puller kit on ebay for $37.00 bucks, with postage. The kit arrived on Wednesday, I attempted to pull the bearing, and one of the claws snapped off. The seller was great, he accepted that it was faulty, and he's sending me a new one on Monday.

Today I saw another kit on eBay for $89.00 which is specifically for removing motorcycle wheel bearings. Fcuk it, I did the "Buy it now" thing, and it should arrive by mid next week.

Tonight, after probably pissing Pete off a bit, (sorry mate) I flicked over to google and did a search for "motorcycle wheel bearing remover" where I found a simple device that you can make in your own garage in 10 minutes, that'll pop those pesky wheel bearings out lickety split. I made said device and popped the wheel bearings right out. Fantastic!

Anyone wanna buy 3 different wheel bearing removal kits? Cheap?

Hey Terry, you didn't piss me off......
And I don't want a bearing puller...
What I do want is a rh blinker pin, which goes inside the plastic arm and actually attaches to the bike, for the R,.....the b#stard broke last weekend and left the blinker dangling by the wires. Apparently they are the same part on the 900 and 750, and probably 1100 boldors, but can't find a supplier for new ones.....tried all the usual places.....it's pissing me off!

Nah mate, I wish it was that simple. It's an odd shaped thing, might have to get one made if I can't find one, hoping at the moment that someone in the R club can help.
Apparently it is not uncommon, they shear where the screw hole is, the weakest point.
All held together with the ever reliable duct tape atm.

Thanks mate, that's similar to the one I built. I actually like mine better than the one in your article as it looks a little more "elegant", and with the lip I machined into the end, it probably works a little better by pulling from behind the bearing rather than relying on the threads on a mild steel bolt to somehow dig into a super hard bearing surface, and I note that in the article it says that you might have to try a couple of times to successfully remove the bearing, whereas mine came out first time.

Here's a pic of my engineering "Hall of Shame" of bearing pullers, the Alltools kit, the ebay kit, and (the latest ebay kit will go straight onto a shelf once it arrives) the puller I made after reading the article I found with google. Cheers, Terry.
