Merry Christmas men! (and ladies) I'm a tad pissed off that for some reason I've got a mild headache this Christmas morn.
Every year we have the wife's family over to our place for a Christmas Eve BBQ, and so I stocked the beer fridge with 3 slabs on Monday, (Crownies, Corona and Cider, the three "C"s) and bought a stack of steaks, chops, snags and burgers.
Yesterday I cleaned the patio, cleaned the Barbie, sent my son up to the servo to buy a bottle of gas (my bottle felt pretty full, but I wasn't gonna risk running out) and grab a couple of bags of ice to dump in the esky for the kids soft drinks.
I hadn't put the lights up and wasn't game to climb up on the roof, so just stapled 'em up in the carport and patio, and hung some solar lights on the side fence and declared that good enough.
I cracked my first can (of cider) at around 11am when Mike came over to look at his engine and drop off his rolling chassis, and as the day was warming up, I kept myself well hydrated from the beer fridge.
Our guests started rolling in at around 5.30, and I shoved a drink in their hands, then fired up the barbie. I did a bloody fantastic job of burning all the meat to a carbon-esque state, and continued to entertain anyone within earshot, until everyone decided that the mossies were feasting on them and they decided to go inside. Funny, I didn't see a mossie all night? I guess I was just lucky.
Then the silly buggers accidentally locked me out and for some reason I couln't attract anyone's attention throught the glass sliding door to let me in, so I had to entertain myself until after everyone went home and the wife finally remembered me and let me back in? God she's getting forgetfull lately!
Anyway, I came inside and watched the Christmas Carols on TV and had my last Bourbon and coke at around 1 am, and wandered off to bed. I woke up at around 5am for a slash, then back to bed for a few more hours, and apart from this mild headache, all in all, I've survived another Christmas Eve.
Sadly I won't be drinking much today as I have to drive the wife and son to my mother in laws for Christmas lunch, but my sister and her family are coming over tomorrow night for a barbie, so the barbie and the beer fridge will be working overtime.
Have a great Christmas everyone, I hope your Christmas day will be full of joy and celebration, of friendship and bonhomie, and maybe some new tools or a few bike parts.......... Cheers, Terry.
