I'd love to work at a car wreckers yard, I love pulling parts off cars and not having to put them back on again, over here we have "Pick a Part" yards where the buyer pays 2 bucks to get in (to pay for all the small parts that you steal) and you gotta pull the parts off yourself.
They will loan you tools and trolley jacks etc if you don't have them, and they do occasionally sell "interesting" cars, my local Pick a Part" had an old Jaguar, a Morris Minor and a Subaru Vortex for sale at different times when I was buying parts for various cars, and I almost bought the Vortex, until I opened the door and it smelt very much like someone had died inside it, then changed my mind.
The benefit of you pulling your own parts means that they don't have to hire people to do it, and that also keeps the prices down, I had to buy some parts for my magnificent 450 buck Subaru when I first bought it, (it's still going great, and I got 40 MPG on the highway with the aircon basting away for the trip to and from my folks place over the last two days) and the guys there only took a few bucks off me, I was expecting to pay a lot more.
Motorcycle wrecking yards are all but dead in Oz, eBay killed most of the smaller ones years ago, and even though my mate Jeff ran a bike wreckers before he gave up wrecking bikes and went back to just fixing them, I hated bike wreckers. The owners were fcuking thieves, half of their stock came from bikes that were given to them by owners who couldn't afford to repair them, and you'd think some of the crap they had for sale was cast from unobtainium.
Motorcycle wreckers (but not the guys in Michigan who sold me the 'Wang engine though, they were fantastic) piss me off...............
