cb500 shift fork drum... how to get it out.
« on: August 05, 2012, 11:21:57 AM »
How do I get this stupid shift drum out? I took the pins out and freed the forks, took the screw out of the end of it and can not get the drum to slide out. I banged on the end with the seal and pretty sure I banged up the seal. I can't get it out. Any ideas???

Have you downloaded the manual yet? This is from the 550 book, but I think it might be the same. Someone else should be able to confirm if it is.

Last year I joined a support group for procrastinators.
We haven't met yet.

the 500 one has a bolt on top of the case just behind the engine number, you dont need to remove that centre screw and pins.

the 550 dosent have that bolt that locates the drum, its held internally with a retainer plate which also holds the fork shaft.
