though correct me wrong the breather tube should be pointing to the rear of the engine? unless you intentionally point it that way.

when you tighten the valve cover down be sure to start with the middle four bolts in the breather sink,then work around to the three either side toward the edges,dont pull down on those front forward four next to the tappet covers untill its all going square and closing up,if you look close they arent real sturdy and ive seen a couple of broken ones,nip them down last,youll find even with the tappet adjusters backed fully off some of the rockers will start to compress the valve springs.

+1 and that's how I did mine, torque down to spec about 90 lbs/in or 7.5 lbs/ft which is right in the middle range per manual. Then work your way out in similar fashion when you torque down the head nuts

i dont torque 6mm bolts only feel them down,you only need to nip them down and a little more,be sure the threads are clean,any friction on bolts this small in soft alloy will result in stripping of the threads,once the engine has been hot and cold twice just check and nip them again,,use new copper washers on those three either side bolts and the two end cap retainer bolts which need two,one top and bottom of the bolt.

yeah, your right, the breather tube should be facing to the back.. when i made the video, it was late and i probably had 1 too many beers.  And yes, you should tighten the bolts starting from the inside out, just like how we did the cylinder nuts... and i also did the front bolts last(the ones by the tappet covers)

hey.. watched the video. thanks for posting. it's very informative.

Im having an issue as my vales arent opening as both the clyber manual and your video/manual say they should. I cant get both valves on 1 or 4 open at the same tiem. I took off the valve cover and made sure I was set up correctly but that wasnt an issue. The groove was set to be level with the cylinder head at TDC 1-4. Anyone else experience this?

you want the valves closed at the same time to adjust them,forget the manuals do it like this,for any cylinder,,rotate the engine by hand and watch as the inlet valve goes down,keep turning and watch as it comes up,once it stops coming up its closed fully even though your still turning the engine over,,now look at your timing mark and bring the tdc mark for that cylinder to its index line,do it slow and smoothly with the plugs out it wont be far away,this is where its compressing and both valves are closed,adjust and set this pair of tappets.

I had the cam chain on incorrectly. Once I lined up TDC on the crank and the cam shaft, all was good. Simple error on reassembly cost me the whole day.

lucky it didnt cost you bent valves,check and rotate any cam install gently by hand over a few times,then check it again,,rotate it all 720 degrees and do that last check.

I actually did end up bending the valves. Found that out this weekend when I went to start it for the first time and have ZERO vacuum or compression. Found a head at the local salvage yard and was able to clean it up and install. Very expensive and stupid lesson learned. Def wont be doing that again.
