Topic: PD46C Rebuild Kit / Jets - Where to buy?

Not having any luck finding stuff for PD carbs.

I checked:

No luck. Although I think they have the jets here:

Do those appear to be the right jets for PD46C carbs? This will be my first time opening them up.

I do not see a kit that is specific to the PD46C that was '78 only.

C'mon, one of you guys has rebuilt 1978 CB550 carbs before. What did you buy?

Kits are ovet rated
I just buy what is needed
I just finished doing the same carbs.........replaced the corroded bowl screws and one bowl gasket ....... cleaned and  re used everything else

The plus side of kits is less down time because you can pull the carbs, do the rebuild and put them back on. No opening them up, heading to the parts dealer and waiting for the parts to come in. But they are pretty expensive.

The bike is running good, just lean. I could probably get away with just bowl gaskets and the new jets, save some money.

Do the jets I linked to look like the ones in the carbs you just rebuilt?

Also, is this the correct float bowl gasket?

I have never had these carbs apart before so I don't know what anything looks like. I'm also afraid I will be looking online at the wrong carbs since they changed them year-to-year. I assume all PD carbs have the same bowl gasket though.

You do not need a carb "kit"

Just get 4 new float valves and seats.
Make sure your jets are clean.
Make sure the float is set by the instructions in the book.
Make sure the brass overflow tube in the float bowl is not cracked.
If it has an accelerator pump make sure that the bottom plate and check ball work. Very important. Make sure that O ring in the top edge of the float bowl does not get left out.

My issue is not so much in whether or not I get a kit or parts, it's getting the CORRECT kit or parts. Everything says "77-78", the problem is on a CB550, there's two different carbs for those years.

If you want to tell me the only thing different between them is the pilot/main jet and the float height, that would help me immensely but I'm not sure and don't want to order the wrong parts.

There is no accel pump in the 550 PD's.
That is the correct gasket.
The jets you linked to in your first post are not the ones.
Small round are the ones you need, you can get them at sirius, sudco, or about anywhere, even your honda dealer.
Make sure to pull the pilot jets (they are push in) and clean them also.

That's why I just get what I need.

$42 each is absurd! $275 for a full rebuild is a bargain but I'd rather do it myself. Like I said, this is decently running bike, I just need to re-jet up a size. I don't expect to encounter anything that will require an expert.
