Stev-O   I promise!  I think it will look pretty cool painted to match. Over all I do think I did ok. The drive was long, but these parts don't come up very often,in this condition . It will take some work on the chrome though, before I will mount them. That's ok!

Good deal. Personally Id chop off the sissy bar part of the rack and paint the chrome parts black maybe also the bags as well. Steve-o is correct you have to remove the grab bar to them to fit.

Good luck and let us know how they turn out when finished.

Andy would you believe its only 2 rusty nuts and that sissy  bar is off. The wood on the luggage rack needs some attention, I would like to refinish those, maybe a shiny stain? I'm not feeling the black yet,on the frame or bags, if I do paint to match it maybe hard to match the red and maybe that would be too much red, so maybe black is the way to go. Ive got some projects to do. I'm still not sure about that trailer hitch,I had to have it. It's so cool. I don't know if I will ever tow anything with my CB,but it sure would be a cool conversation piece

Just remember, if you fit them, to swing your leg higher and wider when getting on. I'm 6'1" and still manage to give then the boot occasionally.

A while back I found , on ebay, an insulated cooler bag made to fit the Shoei. It holds at least 1/2 dozen cans of soda (I never drink alcohol when riding) plus ice bricks which is great on hot days if you want to stop and have a cool drink. When on VJMC club rides in summer I pack a pair of shorts and sandals so that when we stop somewhere for lunch I can change out of hot riding gear into something cooler.

If the chrome doesn't polish up to your liking you could have it ceramic coated, the bright silver/chrome looks very nice on other parts I've seen done. Or you could have them powdercoated.
I dig the Shoei bags and like them in white on a lot of bikes. Wax them up with some carnuba wax and see if that gives them more appeal.

RAFster I have been thinking more about the powder coat, Andy had brought up painting the racks, and its kinda been in my head ever since. I've got some black in my bike so when I do paint the bags it will  prolly be either red or black. That powder coat Chrome sounds appealing,I hadn't heard of that. If I had the dough,I would love to change the color to the Sunburst Metal Flake Orange. My favorite!

Take a GOOD picture of one bag, top/side then enlarge on printer.Make some spare copies, Sit down and break out the color pencils and draw some geometric shapes on the bags that you may like and color RED/WHITE then paint them to match your bike. You will be surprised how much BETTER the bike will look with two-toned bags instead of solid white. My .02 cents

Chuck that's not a bad idea,I really don't want the white on there at all, but how does a red bag and the top black sound,as the bike is mainly red and the black painted on the  motor, and the black clubmans and bar end mirrors.Hmmmm

You could use RED as the main color and accent with black Geometric patterns on the tops and sides.
I have a buddy with a DOHC with bags that is RED/WHITE and it is sharp!!!

I am slowly building a 72' CB500 into a "sport touring bagger" of some sort.   I didn't like the chrome on the bags I found so I had them powdercoated in satin black.  In my case, I am blacking out a lot of the chrome but even on a stock bike I think the black racks would work.  You might also like the white bags a bit better if you coated the frames black.  Anyway, here's a pic:

That seems like a fair price. Yes, you'll need to remove the grab bar.

You have to promise to paint them to match though, ok?!

+1 but forget the trailer hitch & cut down the sissy, if used.

I had it done.  I dropped off a bunch of parts and had them all done at once.  Some were gloss black, some were satin black, and the fenders were silver.  Here's a few more pics.     I just thought you might like to see the racks in black.

Brooze I totally dig the trailer hitch,I don't know if I will ever use it. All the wiring is there. It is big and bulky. How cool would it be a 750 and a trailer? Hmmmm. The sissy bar itself it held on by 2 bolts undeneath the luggage rack, its easily removeable and now I can pack my lunchbox and take it to work. No more eating for me.. There is one similar on eBay and its an Authur Fulmer. I have not found any markings on my rack saying what it is,so its still a mystery. My wife requests a sissy bar on our rides,so I got this one.

As a temporary thing to see if you like the bags frames in black buy a cheap roll of electrical tape an tape the outside surface of the frames and mock it up on the bike using some wire or tape to hold them in position...stand back and see what you think.

Some Goof Off will remove any adhesive residue followed by a wipe down of denatured alcohol...

I used some black &  red construction paper. Black around the frame and some red on the ouside of the boxes. The only thing I am hung up on is the rest of the chrome on the bike itself and the black powdercoat on the frame instead Chrome   on the frame that surrounds the bottom of the boxes.I'm not 100% sold yet. I'm pretty sure this will be the way I go. Goofaroo stuff looks awesome. Which is really pushing my mind into the black powdercoat frame, instead of Chrome. I just wonder what the price difference will be between having it re chromed or having the stuff powdercoated. Would they have to do anything special to the chrome before its powdercoated?

I would bet chrome plating will be much more expensive.
