FOund an upholstery shop a few miles away that will stitch up my seat the way I want. Basically, I wajt it to be like the cb750 brats on bike exif,  just smaller.

Picked up some faux leather from michael's that is exatly like what I had imagined.

I'll be making the rear portion of the seat later today.

That seat looks a little slim comfort-wise but it's coming along great. Are you putting a boss in the hump for the tailight? or is it going below?

Oh that is just the first layer of foam. I've already added a second layer and it is way thicker and comfortable now. I had the spray adhesion to set over night.

What do you mean by boss?

I'm pretty sure I'll be unstalling two of these side by side in the hump like you're talking about. I dont have any space below the hoop.

They're only 2" wide and less than an inch deep, which will work great for under then hump.
On the fence about using turn signals or not.

I actually looked into doing something like that, but I dont want to cut up the rear hoop at all, and I really like the looks of two circle lights in the hump. And the RCW laws in Washington make it Illegal to have the indicators and brake light so close together. They need to have a few inches inbetween each. thanks for the suggestion though.

This is the style seat I will be having stitched up.

And this is pretty similar to how I want my paint job to look like. "Faux Patina" Going with the rat rod style I guess.

Got my rearsets today! These things look great. can't wait to install them today.

Made some reinforcement plates with a plasma cutter.

painted my caliper and brake lines just to freshen them up a bit.

THought you guys might like the new ignition system

Then I tried out some different color schemes on the tank. Stripped the oem stickers off too.

soo... I was planning on leaving today for a spring break ski trip but my roommate decided the brake pads on his car needed to be replaced first. Long story short, once gouged caliper cylinder, and one stripped bleeder screw, and we're stuck. Tried tapping with a bigger size, yada yada yada no success. Gonna try a different McGuyver style fix tomorrow.

Anyways, the car setback gave me some time to work on the bike. So I shaped the seat hump. I tried copying the lines of the tank.

how did your friend gouge a caliper cylinder? I've replaced brake pads on at least 20 different cars over the past 30 years and never once needed to remove a piston or crack open the bleeder screw.

it was on a VW Passat and I guess when you compress the caliper piston to get enough space to put the new pads in and get it on the rotor, the cylinder piston has to "spin/twist" as you compress it. dumbest design ever! Crazy story actually too! The guy that ended up replacing the calipers (VW and Audi specialist) twisted the brake line when he reinstalled it, so 4 hours later going down a mountain pass the brakes went out. The brake line had rubbed up against the tire and blew hole in it.

thanks! I'm having a bit of trouble with the rear sets right now. I'm not a fan of the style of rod ends that came with it. I thought i was going to get the eyelet style ones.

Please dont use these. With all the detail so far it would be a shame to use lights like this.
BTW, I've never seen these lights in a 2 inch size that are dual filament.

Ah. I have a Jetta, so I know what you are talking about. You need a special tool to rotate the piston easily while you compress it. Most of the chain parts stores have one that they will loan you. My old Saab 900 was the same way.

I really like how it follows the line.

Another this g with the cheapue round one is that the rubber is the mount. You have to then put the light in thru the backside which means you need a solid flat mount. The lights blow imo

Yeah i was thinking the same thing after i actually held one of these lights. It's just too ugly. Thanks for the suggestion.

here's the paintjob. It's not exactly what I was going for because I couldn't find the right colors so i improvised a little. Worst case scenario, if i don't dig it after a while I can just spray over it no problem.

the color under the orangle looks blue in thsese pics, but it's actually a dark black.

Gonna have to be honest...

Looks like primer on bondo...

I think a couple different shades of gray/black sanded through in that style might look nice, then maybe a bit of orange/gold pearl in the clear to give it some colour.

Good effort though, the colour is just reminiscent of so many bodywork repairs.
