Petition against fluro for motorcyclists *Update*
« on: September 07, 2012, 05:23:51 AM »
I don't think this will breach the no politics rule.

Australia's 1.3 million motorcycle riders would be forced by law to wear fluoro jackets under proposals splitting the biker and scooter community.

http://www.news.com.au/national/bikers-blue-over-push-to-wear-fluoro-jackets/story-fncynjr2-1226451721963

If you feel strongly enough against this prposal here's a petition against it.

I started to fill in the details on the side and then noticed the question "outside the US?" which made me think what has the US got to do with it, which then made me supicious about leaving my personal address.....am I being too paranoid?

But a proposal like this is just laughable......and we pay these politicians for this? FFS.

Thanks Frosty, I just signed it. it really annoys me that I may have to wear fluro gear so dumb schidts in cars can see me? If I wear a fluro jacket and still get knocked off my bike, will I get a personal apology from Terry Mulder and will he then repeal that stupid law? Fcuk I hate politicians.............  >:(
I was feeling sorry for myself because I couldn't afford new bike boots, until I met a man with no legs.

So I said, "Hey mate, you haven't got any bike boots you don't need, do you?"

They are talking about it here in France too.The reason for this is not for the dopes in cars to see you  (headlights on all day) but to help find you if you fall off!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!Someone here has shares in a company we already have to carry breath kits.Another part of your heritage being taken away.
Cheers

Yeah mate, we actually had mandatory "Headlights on" laws in Oz for a few years but they repealed it when they realised that it didn't make any difference, you just can't make car drivers smarter.

Maybe we should all carry baseball bats so we can beat some sense into them? Maybe they should ban mufflers on motorcycles so all the car drivers can hear us? Maybe they should just ban cars? Hmmnn.............. Cheers, Terry. ;D

The server for that website is based in Canada Pete, I think that's the reason for the question about location.
Angus, the guy who's behind the petition is actually in Brisbane here somewhere. Don't be afraid to put your info there. I got an email from Angus straight after signing. Automated no doubt.
Here's hoping it gets put away, I remember something similar some years back but it never got through.

So anyone from any country can sign this? I'd like to help nip it in the bud before it's the UK's turn.
'Then' and 'than' are completely different words and have completely different meanings. Same with 'of' and 'have'. Set and sit. There, their and they're. Draw and drawer. Could care less/couldn't care less. Bought/brought FFS.

I'm not sure about that Les, but I suppose you could always say you plan on emigrating and don't like the idea.  ;)

I just found this page for Angus as well

ft bragg requires a flo belt and that means most riders have some kind of flo on.  iwear a belt draped across my shoulder because i do not want to be the only one without one.

I have signed the petition.

And if they bring in this stupid law, I will get bright yellow Fluro vinyl lettering cut to stick on my already high vis silver and grey jacket that says '#$%*fluro'
