Been looking for something older than my 305 Honda Dream but dont want to spend the high dollar for a bmw or norton etc.. found this mostly original Puch in indy. Running great with a title and a cool 65 Michican plate on it. just a cool old ride to putt around the city on.

I'm sure you got a good deal, I've seen them for sale for up to $1400.

a very nice bike , not only great fun to ride but a good investment .these are getting very difficult to find [ especially in this condition ] and i recon the prices for these are only going up . buy it !

The bike is in great running condition, titled and like i said only missing the correct mirrors and the petcock. however the petcock looks fine on it. I paid slightly more than 1400.00 for it and because its in great shape. Theres one on ebay that just went for 1400.00 not near the shape mine is in, so i think i did ok. Plus i plan on keeping it along with my 305 Dream. i have a repair book on it as well. Yes its not a speed demon but has no prob getting up to 60mph.

Is that the engine that goes by the name of a Twingle or am I thinking of another model. Buddy of mine has a Twingle in his barn.

Yes, I believe it was called the Twingle.

Tango - does it have the tandem pistons? Very unique.

Yep, that's it Eric, 2 pistons and 1 combustion chamber made for pretty low compression, but a good understressed engine. Cheers, Terry.

One cylinder in front, one behind, with a vee shaped connecting rod, if I recall correctly. My friend had a similar vintage Allstate in the mid '70s, that he bought for really cheap. After the usual flushing out of sour fuel, the bike ran like a top! He ran that thing up and down the Central Coast area of CA, with his blond girlfriend riding on the back!

Stev-O nice link. Yes its a single head, with two bores and uses one Carb. very interesting setup. here is what a guy posted in a kawi forum that im in. The pic below is not the exact engine, plus its miss a section that has the 2nd spark plug that screws in from the side.

" The rear piston has the transfer ports and handles the intake and crankcase pressure, while the front piston discharges the exhaust, plus closes the intake, and is several degrees ahead of the rear piston, but both are on compression stroke in the combined compression chamber. This engine was designed specifically for the Austria landscape meaning it developed a lot of torque low in the rev range and had a very low ratio first gear suitable for two up riding in the mountainous country. it is very unlike most two strokes where revving the engine produces a lot more power. With the Puch you shift the gearbox in the low rev range and let the torque move you along."

Now I want one too! My fist bike was an Allstate my Dad bought me, only 50cc though. Was pedaled like a bicycle to start and two speed, top speed 42 downhill.

yes, seems that puch made a ton of mopeds as well.

nice to see a Puch 250GS here! it comes from my homecountry. in the small village i live, there is the "Plank Family". they have a lot of Puchs and have their own Puch racing team. their bikes look as new and perform more than well. here is the link http://www.plank-racing.at.tt/

Isn't Puch, DKW, & Zundap all the same family? It seems I remember them from my early '70's Desert racing days.

i have 4-5 puch mopeds..all strong pullers..not heigh speed/rpm, like japanese ..and the puch are solid..can stand autside in rain and snow..and just starts..just a shame that piaggio bayed it..and smashed the presission and good machine workas the veapon factory had build up vith steyer daimler and puch..think the car division and hunting veapons still runs fine..its just the motorcycel and mopeds vho is sold aut
