Lots of things. My personal preference....... Muratic acid sold at most hardware stores. Highly toxic and very nasty stuff.
Since I learned about it and how to do it correctly I never use anything else. It's marvelous, the price is right and you don't have to wait overnight.

What is it used for, that a neighborhood hardware store would have it??

My old man used to clean toilet bowls with it.

Its used to clean stone and brick. It takes calcium deposits and mortar mess right off.
