Candy Gold Paint etc. CB750 K1
« on: September 17, 2012, 12:56:20 PM »
I've read some stuff on Candy Gold paint here on the forum but a lot of it is old info.
I have a pair of N.O.S. side covers in Candy Gold and I want to have the tank etc. painted.

There seems to be a lot of debate on the correct way to go. I know Honda used silver and then the Candy top coats but does anyone have reliable info on the paint codes or a way to get what I need here in Australia?

Most likely I will keep the N.O.S. side covers in the cupboard and have aftermarket side covers painted along with the tank etc.

While we're on the subject of paint, I have a set of new chrome headlight brackets (K2 - the old ones are rusted out) and will probably have the chrome removed to paint them Candy Gold. If I can't get a good match I might go non original on the paint - maybe black...

Any help would be great.

Thanks for the reply.

I'll talk to the paint shop and see what they say - if I do the gold it has to be spot on or I'll go for black.
Can I get "House of Kolor" here or do I have to chase it overseas?

Mate,
they're pretty bad, but I've spoken to someone local who can fix them if i go that way. I have salvaged the reflectors from them though...

You can get new K2 brackets from David Silvers but they're not cheap... really not cheap... and they're chromed. I'm just not ready to sell anything until I finish the bike, 'cause I've sold / given away a few bits that I wish I still had.

Hi Brookesy...how did your paint investigation go..?? I'm looking for a paint job on my 500 (Jade Green) to match the sidecovers. I also have a new candy gold tank (500) that I need to match unpainted sidecovers to...
Thanks
J
