As you can see by the previous posts I've removed the baffles and it gives a little more louder and sweeter sound, I'm satisfied !
When I release the throttle / rev down it bangs/fire/shoots in sweden we call it "carburetor bangs/explosions". Ive understood that this could be to small "low jet size" ?
Any ideas ? On how to get rid of these bangs ? I don't want to run a poorly tuned engine
Cause = effect
1 - you had a nice running bike which you modified
2 - now the bike behaves badly, and is clearly "poorly tuned" for the modifications.
Perhaps annoying everyone around you while riding has it's costs? Now they can really sit up and take notice of what a poor mechanic has been meddling with your bike!
Changing the exhaust back pressure requires fuel enrichment, almost certainly for all throttle positions. The quickest fix is to put the baffles back to restore proper combustion mixtures. Otherwise, and dynamometer will give you a fuel map and allow you to tweak the idle mid-range and Wide open throttle mixtures in you carbs.
You may be able to band-aid the issue by pilot circuit enrichment, raising the slide needles, and going to larger main jets.
The "home brew" method is to buy several sets of spark plugs, learn to "read" them, find a test track, and then try different adjustments until you get bored, frustrated, or compromise your beliefs on on well it should behave.
Or...you could simply put the baffles back in. (...making more than just you happier).
Good luck!
Ok, you're like my dad who thinks a motorcycle would run as quiet as possible. I don't.
Not that i want to wake up my whole neighborhod, but as it is now without the baffles is more quiet then many modern bikes with "effect exhaust/slip-on etc". The original 340 exhaust system has mostly of the diffusion internally so even though I've removed the baffles the sound is't that loud that you might figure.
The main reason why I asked here was beacus at least in Sweden I know a lot of people drive without baffles with stock pipes, and I figure a lot does all over.. So maybe there was a "quick fix" some jet size range where I would start my tuning.
To be clear, it runs nice, the only problem is the somethimes "bangs" when I rev down.
Most of us chopper riders , run straight pipes or pipes with very little baffles/restrictions. We also run POD air filters or BREADBOX style and to tune the carbs for this setup we run a 40 slow jet and a 115 main. The MAIN jet is in the very middle of the carb and unscrews seperate from the emulsifier tube and the slow jet is shorter and clockwise from the needle and seat.
Some forums DISLIKE CHOPPER riders/builders because we'll take a halfway decent stock bike and cut it here and add to it there till we get something we like to ride! Kind of like women, we don't all ride the same type!!!

My K2 has 120 for main as stock ....
What's next step ? 125 ? 130 ? main or slow ?
people will think different everywhere, some want your bike the make a little sound, same as forthe sportscars thats one reason why you by them FFS
Some one to ride fast and some want do ride'em like chopers
For example, my father who had a bunch of CB's in the 70-80's freaked out yesterday cause i removed one of the mirrors..... people will allways think different
