Won't idle, hates the lights/stop signs
« on: September 24, 2012, 09:18:47 PM »
So my little GSXR250RR is going great on the road, as light as a push bike but easily hits red line in all gears when pushed, 180 kph no problems with more in reserve.
However once you slow down and hit the odd traffic light or stop sign it shudders and wants to die! :(
I automatically blamed the slow idle system and have had the carbs apart many time cleaning and checking them.
Is there something basic I have missed?
Why would a bike go so well under load yet fail at slow speeds?
Gas supply is good, vacuum gas tap works perfectly, new plugs, starts right up every time, strange flat spot between idle (if it would) and high speed.
I hate being beaten by a problem and am not ready to take it to my pet mechanic to sort, so come on geniuses of the SOHC4 Forum, get your thinking caps on and give me some suggestions/direction. :)
I think the thing I most like about motorcycling is the speed at which my brain must process information at to avoid the numb skulls who are eating pies, playing the ukulele, applying make-up etc in the comfort of their airconditioned armchairs as they make random attempts to kill me!!!!!!!

Is this the one with the dodgy coils Hushy? ;D
I was feeling sorry for myself because I couldn't afford new bike boots, until I met a man with no legs.

So I said, "Hey mate, you haven't got any bike boots you don't need, do you?"

Is it stock or modified? You might need to go a jet size bigger in the idle circuit.

My son got so sick of my attempts to cure the bike that one day I came home and he had trailered it to the motorbike mechanic. ;D
I await with bated breath the outcome (and the bill) ;D
Should find out this week what I stuffed up or missed, dang and I repaired fixed or replaced everything I could think of to get it to run right, was down to air filter position and coils beofre the bike disappeared. :D

I'm betting on the coils Hushy, Suzuki coils are notorious for frying themselves. ;D

Was my best bet too Terry, started getting weak yellow spark near the end.
This bike also has the worst plug caps I have ever seen, looks like they came off a car and they only just fit over plugs, many faults with this bike, looks the part but PO has been having a play.

Son put bike in bike shop much to my disgust as I hate to be beaten, then the bike mechanic's Father is dying so bike shop closed for 2 weeks with bike trapped in there, I'm as keen as you Terry to know why the little bugger won't run right but out of my hands at present.
