Topic: No Title

When I was 21 years of age I owned a 1977 Honda 750 Supersport. Now in my “Mid Life Crisis” I hastily purchased another 1977 Honda 750 Supersport with less than 5K miles on the Odometer from an Out of State Party. I had the Bike shipped to me from New York to Ohio. The Bike is very nice with some minor issues.
Now the predicament. Yes I know, it was probably dumb on my part, but I bought the Bike without a Title. Checking in on how to obtain a New Title in the State of Ohio:
Application for a Ohio Court Ordered Title:
1) Lost or Stolen Title.
2) Incomplete Sale.
3) Repair Garage or Place of Storage Abandonment.

Any of the above criteria will not guarantee an Ohio State Title through the Court System. A New Friend of mine tried to get an Ohio State Title a few times over the years without success. Now, I was able to have my City Police Chief run the VIN Number and he said there is no record of the Bike and it does not come up stolen. (I did check that before the purchase) So, has anyone had any experience with this situation? Any suggestions?

Went through the same thing with mine.
Except I had a title but the guy I bought it from just rivetes a different vin plate to the neck... The plate for which he had the title for.

I was new to CB's at the time and I didn't even know about the vin being stamped in the neck.

Thankfully it wasn't stolen. I guess he just did that because he figured he'd get more for a bike with a "title"

Anyways, one trip to the license & theft bureau and I got all of my forms to get the title.

But I am in North Carolina and it might be a little different.

But it all boiled down to just having to get a bonded title on it.

Way less headache than I imagined.

Ohio isn't Nazi-ish about titling.  if it's not registered as a stolen vehicle, you should not have any problems.  I'd call the titling agency and see if #1 or #2 is more pertinent to your case.  My guess is #2, since you have never had a title for that bike.
