the 900F had a real problem with engines self destructing

What's really weird is the CB900F problems didn't appear in the CBX or CB1100F (which have very similar motors).  I had a CB900F.  Boy, could I make that thing fly!  It got demolished (along with most of my left kneecap) by a young Turk running a red light.  I went on to buy a CBX, and I still lust after the CB1100F...

How much money do you want to spend Trevor? I know where there's a minty CB1100F, and I reckon the owner would sell it, if you offered him an appropriate sum? Let me know mate, and I'll hook you up. The 1100F's did have some problems too, but I'll have to search my memory banks and get back to you. Cheers, Terry. ;D
I was feeling sorry for myself because I couldn't afford new bike boots, until I met a man with no legs.

So I said, "Hey mate, you haven't got any bike boots you don't need, do you?"

We have 5 bikes in the garage & three teenagers still at home, so we're waiting on inheritance...  but the old buggers refuse to die!

Yep, the older you get, the longer you want to live, but the good thing is, by the time they do leave their mortal coil, you'll probably have a better use for their money............ ;D

Well the 900F did 1105 miles from Matthews NC  to Deals Gap NC then into Chattanooga Tennessee [sleep], Into Leeds Alabama to the Barber Museum the first afternoon, then back for the festival & races on Saturday.  Home via the interstates today.

Mileage includes three laps of the race track at Barber. They took us out in groups of about fifty bikes, by hanging toward the back, Nikkisixx & I had great fun. He on his 883 Sportster, me on the 900F.  Couple of nice sprints off the corners.

Very pleased with the machine.  It pulls above 6000rpm like an S2000. smooth thru the corners even the 318 in 11 miles down the Tail of the Dragon. Freeway travel is smooth and effortless at 80+/- we did 350 miles in less than 7 hours; no numb hands, no numb butt!  It did use a quart of oil in 1300 miles.

Only rattle was is in the tach...bought a used gauge set at the Festival to use.  Must be from an 81 900F or a 750F because the gauge faces are black/white instead of Black/red.

The Barber Motorsports Park & Museum are a first class  organization.  If you can detour to the area it is well worth a visit.
