hey - at least you're brave enough to tell us!  ;) 8)

that's too bad about not making it - but it's only the first of a series - I was really only trying to get the guys up around here - not to be exclusive or anything, but to be proactive about hanging out when possible...My point is, this hopefully is not a once-a-year type thing but something altogether more informal for the sock-lovers...You'll be welcome anytime.

anybody else have ride ideas? - if not, I say we use the 30th to map out a ride up jsaab's way - down 94 for some scenery...

junkie out...

Count me in......even if I have to wear a mitten on my right hand :P

Soulard, huh? Just make sure it`s not one of those places where everyone`s wearing leather and not a bike to be seen ::) ;D

Just once, many moons ago. A buddy & I walked into a corner bar to grab a cold one and everybody was wearing leather, but there wasn't a motorcycle in sight and lots of falsetto voices. :o
That's scarier than the bad ass Hardley guys. ;D

well, VeniceCafe is a funky place - they have good live music pretty often and an interior and beer garden you aren't likely to forget soon...it's no jock bar but i can vouch for the beer selection and the music (sometimes) and if it's a nice night you can't beat the garden with a phychedelic stick...

i was thinking of Soulard mostly because it tends to be bike friendly and there are lots of trees, so it stays cool there. the Loop is nothing but cages. Central West End is...well, refer to your former post, - except for Dressel's Pub which is pretty awesome...

West County  :P

If nobody body checks, let's shoot for Venice.

Saturday 29th or Sunday 30th? Anyone?
McFly???

Wish I was gonna be in town. The Venice Cafe patio is one of the best places in the 'Lou to spend a summer night. Hands down one of my favorite places in the whole city.

Did you disconnect all of the wires from the control switches that run through the bar and into the headlight bucket ?

oh wiring...something sounds really wrong - shouldn't be that hard - feed a pull wire through - lube the #$%* outta it - i think i wrappe all of them around the tug wire and then wrapped it all in tape really tight and smooth - then lube that...then pull...

hm. I guess im retarted. So is the easiest way to disconnect the wires in the bucket, or from the control switches. I disassembled the switches.

neither did i - i did the rest. thing for a while...

well those goddam switches are a #$%* - i always drop a little piece somewhere - the ends that go into the bucket just have the bullet connections on them...

maybe i'm not understanding you right - how did you get the wires loose from the switch components? they should be soldered on to the handles... ???

didn't actually get them off. wrapped things like the starter button with electrical tape. I think the confussion came into play when i said disassembled the switches, what i should have said was that I took apart the control housings by just unscrewing the connectors in them. No actual unsoldering of the connectors took place. So should I just pull the headlight bucket end or am I on the right path?

You`ll need to take your headlight out of the shell and inside there you will need to disconnect the wires. After that you can get the bar off and pull the wires out the top

what he said...

and now - you will figure out how to read your wiring diagram...if you don't have a manual - go and get one before you unhook everything in the bucket - i think in the FAQs you can download one???

the only way to do it is to find every wire in the diagram and plug them in one at a time and mark them off as you do it - use a colored ink so you can see which ones you've marked.

if you just start matching colors up you will do what i did which is hook up some of the extra wires that are always in there and then stuff will short out, or worse, the bike won't run at all and then you have to take EVERYTHING apart again... ;D :'(

;D I think i solved the problem. Radioshack has these cable markers for 2 bucks for 24. Ill just get a couple packs and organize the wires that way. I figure I can mark each side of the wire with  numbers so i can tell where they go. Screw you wiring diagram!

YEAH!

:D - that's pretty funny...sounds like it will work, though - as long as you have somebody looking over your shoulder...i hope they arent very big, there ain't a lot of room in that bucket...

so, what kind of seat did you buy?
