Can anyone identify this...
« on: October 18, 2012, 09:17:19 PM »
Okay this might be a shot in the dark but here it goes
does anyone recognize this hub or what its off of?

came with a bobber i bought.

but when the backing plate from a known 750 is put in, it doesnt fit in the "lip" and rotate freely once the axle nut is tightened.

instead it "butts up", if you will, to the edge of the hub.
and when the axle nut is tightened it stops the wheel from spinning freely.

obviously the backing plate is wrong.
and the edge of the hub and the groove inside is slightly different.

i guess the question is...
could this be a 500 hub?
is there a difference in the hub on the 750 and 500?

the axle size is the same as a 750 and the sprocket fits fine.

i'd really like to be able to use this thing but as of now its a paper weight.

thanks

Looks like an early 750 hub. If you are selling I call dibs can trade for correct one. If your Inner spacer is not in place, it will fit like you said it did.

Not sure what hub you have, but this is what my ‘69 750K two-hole hub looks like. Note the difference in the machined step of the outer lip.

what size is the axle anyways?
