1977 CB750K Rebuild
« on: October 22, 2012, 11:40:35 AM »
Hey guys, new member here with my first post. So.. be gentle. ;)

I recently picked up a 1977 CB750K for $500. The current plan is to tear it all down and build up the baddest cafe that I can... within monetary confinements, of course. She already came with clubmans and a cafe seat(that I won't be using) as well as a long list of extra parts.

My progress so far? Removed the engine. I noticed that there was a lot of sloppy gasket maker around some covers, and later found that some gaskets were completely missing. So, that's what has encouraged me to tear her down and build her right.

I purchased a new motor gasket set from ebay for $75. That was the cheapest I could find after looking around the net. The next step will be to start ripping apart the engine, scraping the liquid gasket that seems to be everywhere, and then inspecting the internals to see what needs to be replaced for a full engine rebuild.

If you guys have any tips, hints, or motivational words of encouragement(I'll probly need that) then leave some feedback for me. I've never been this balls deep into an engine, so it'll be a learning experience for sure.
