Topic: Sticky Exhaust Valves

Hey Guys,
I have checked about everything else; the timing, the ehhaust pipes, the plugs and the coils, everything but the exhaust valves and the carbs (the carbs are a major project I would like to avoid if possible).
The Symptoms:
slight backfiring
a poofing sound or a clicking sound from the engine followed by a jump in accelleration
a lag in acceleration and trouble starting cold

Is a sticky exhaust valve an easy fix or a real pain?

Get a water bottle (like a windex bottle) and fill it full of water. Warm the bike up... hold the throttle (with air box removed) and spray the water directly into the carb throats... it will cause the bike to smoke while your doing it but water takes carbon off of internals pretty good.

Really? That sounds nuts. Has anyone else tried this? If it works I will try it.
